Games of Thrones star Emilia Clarke is set to make her MCU debut in this year’s Disney+ series Secret Invasion. While discussing the forthcoming and highly anticipated show with Collider, the actress heaped praise on Marvel’s “mind-boggling” ability to maintain a rare level of both consistency and quality in nearly all its film and television shows. “It’s like everyone at Marvel knows how to unlock the Rubik’s Cube, [and] I can’t do a Rubik’s Cube to save my damn life,” she joked.

Emilia Clarke is certainly no stranger when it comes to starring in projects that are a part of a shared universe. In addition to Game of Thrones, the Primetime Emmy Award-nominated actress has had roles in Terminator: Genisys and Solo: A Star Wars Story. Still, those series are merely child’s play compared to the expensive and complex machine that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“It’s like they have some secret thing, and it just works,” said the performer. Since she’s been unable to wrap her head around the studio’s astonishing process of creating movies and TV series, Emilia Clarke seems to have settled on simply relishing the opportunity to work with the “brilliant” folks at Marvel. “They’re just so chill, and I think I’m not that chill, and I think if I were them, I would be so unchill all the time,” she said.

Secret Invasion is set to premiere sometime this spring, however, an exact date has yet to be announced. Several actors will be reprising their roles for the upcoming series, including Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, and Don Cheadle as James Rhodes. In addition to Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, and Christopher McDonald will make their MCU debuts in the show.

Currently, it is unknown which character Emilia Clarke will play in the show, since Marvel seems to be keeping her role tightly under wraps. There are rumors swirling around the web, however, that she could be playing a specific Skrull monarch or a S.W.O.R.D. agent. Fortunately, with spring right around the corner, we won’t have to wait much longer to find out which character the 36-year-old star has been tapped to play.

Secret Invasion is a crossover event series showcasing a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years. The show will center on Nick Fury (Jackson) and the Skrull Talos (Mendelsohn), who previously met in 2019’s Captain Marvel. They must work together to try to stop the Skrulls with the help of some new and familiar allies.

In addition to the upcoming Marvel series, Emilia Clarke has been hard at work on several other projects. She has a starring role in the recently released romantic comedy The Pod Generation, which centers on a New York couple’s wild ride to parenthood using a new tool developed by a tech giant. Directed by Sophie Barthes, the film also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Vinette Robinson, Nilson David, and Aslin Farrell.

Emilia Clarke has also been tapped to headline the film An Ideal Wife. The forthcoming drama is currently in pre-production and is being directed by Sophie Hyde (Animals). The story follows the life of Irish children’s author Constance Lloyd, wife of Oscar Wilde, exploring the sexual awakening she experienced when she discovered that Wilde was a homosexual.

Finally, the beautiful and talented actress is set to appear in the biographical drama McCarthy by director Václav Marhoul. The film is a personal look at the influential former politician who rose to fame as a driving force behind anti-communist and anti-homosexual U.S. political sentiment during the Cold War. Along with Emilia Clarke, the historical picture will star Michael Shannon and Dane DeHaan.
