If you’re a fan of the Marvel’s Young Avengers comic book series and are looking forward to seeing more of those characters that were brought to the screen with shows such as WandaVision and Loki then you just might be in luck. According to Digital Spy, Elizabeth Olsen speculated about the possibility of it coming to fruition in the future.
Admittedly, while Elizabeth Olsen did say in a recent interview with the New York Film Academy that she could see the Young Avengers happening in the future, she also said that neither her nor the mastermind behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studio’s President Kevin Feige, know of anything for certain.
However, what Elizabeth Olsen did briefly outline, in that same interview, was the process through which new ideas and stories are developed for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A quote via Screen Rant revealed, “They really plan phases at a time, and then after those complete, they move onto the next phase.” With the overall success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole combined with the closure we all received from Avengers: Endgame, it really stands to reason that Marvel would want to pass the torch to the next generation.
Speculating further, shows like WandaVision and Loki really have set up the perfect platform to inject new youth into the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. Every spinoff thus far has been widely embraced by fans. In fact, fans have been begging for Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany to resume their roles for the second season of WandaVision.
Realistically, the possibility for a second season of WandaVision is slim. However, the conclusion of the first season greatly opened up the possibility of Elizabeth Olsen embracing and coming to terms with a new identity as the Scarlet Witch. Over the years, fans of Wanda have watched her story arc develop. From the death of her brother Pietro in Avengers: Age of Ultron to her becoming an avenger, falling in love with Vision, and even the brief foreshadowing that we saw with her loss of control over her power in Avengers: Civil War, viewers have truly seen her grow and develop as a character.
Elizabeth Olsen has truly made an impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and has succeeded expectations in her role as Wanda. While there still isn’t any confirmation if we are going to see Billy, Tommy, young Loki, Kate Bishop, or Cassie Lang as a fully-fledged team on screen in the future. There are a whole host of other upcoming releases to satisfy our Marvel cravings. In less than two months we can look forward to the release of Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings on September 3, 2021, amongst a slew of other releases set for the subsequent months, such as Eternals and Spider-Man: No Way Home. While we wait, however, the recently released Black Widow can be streamed right now from the comfort of your own couch with premiere access on Disney Plus or can be viewed in theaters.
