The more we learn about Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the bigger her character becomes. Now, we hear Elizabeth Olsen’s character may be appearing in Spider-Man 3. The news comes from Small Screen. Their sources claim to be close to Marvel Studios. They say that Elizabeth Olsen will be shooting scenes for Spider-Man 3 that will primarily deal with the Multiverse.
This news makes sense with other things we’ve learned. For example, we’ve heard that Wanda Maximoff, also known as Scarlet Witch, will be playing the villain in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. It would then make sense for her to work with the Multiverse in Spider-Man 3 alongside Doctor Strange, who we also hear will be in the movie.
Wanda Maximoff first showed up in Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015. Mostly, her character has played a smaller role. We’ve gotten to know her bit by bit over time. It’s only now in WandaVision on Disney+ that we’re really getting to know Elizabeth Olsen’s character. This may be another sign that the ties between the Disney+ productions will be strongly tied to the Marvel movies we’re used to seeing in theaters. It’s been said by many that in Phase 4, Scarlet Witch will be our main Marvel villain. It makes sense that to have her appear in Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. It may also be a sign that we’ll be seeing announcements of more appearances by Elizabeth Olsen in future projects as they develop her story over Phase 4.
Of course, Spider-Man 3 has an overwhelming cast list already. It’s been said we’ll be seeing Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Kirsten Dunst, Emma Stone, Charlie Cox, Benedict Cumberbatch, and the list does actually go on. Now, we’re adding Elizabeth Olsen to the mix. As the writers introduce the Multiverse, they’re going to have a lot more to handle in terms of both plot lines and characters. It helps that they’ve had a lot of Marvel movies already to help us get to know these characters and set them up. Still, it will be interesting to see how the movies handle so much without becoming five hours long.
With so many actors in Spider-Man 3, it’s maybe not surprising that Elizabeth Olsen will show up. What’s one more to add to the mix, after all? However, it is an exciting and interesting note in terms of where Scarlet Witch may be going in the Marvel Cinematic Universe overall. It’s also an interesting look at how Disney+ TV series will tie into the movies.
Already, publications like SyFy are saying WandaVision is the most important thing to happen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man started the universe in 2008. Time has said that the originality of the show gives hope that franchises can stay fresh. The show is full of easter eggs and tie-ins. Will there now be references in the movies that only fans of WandaVision will get?
Whether you’re watching WandaVision or not, if you’re a Marvel fan, it seems you’ll definitely be seeing more of Elizabeth Olsen’s character soon.
