Elizabeth Olsen Getting A Superhero Solo Movie
A new rumor suggests that given the popularity of WandaVision, Elizabeth Olsen might be getting her own solo superhero film.

Disney’s creation of Disney+ seemed like a perfect opportunity for the company to make series centered on smaller characters that might not warrant their own films. The first of these experiments for Marvel is WandaVision, which has followed the faux-sitcom like of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany’s Vision. Each new episode has been dissected and discussed, and both characters are now more popular than ever. Now, a new rumor suggests that this rise in popularity could cause Elizabeth Olsen to get her own solo Wanda Maximoff movie.
This rumor comes from We Got This Covered, which states that the positive reaction to WandaVision, and Elizabeth Olsen’s performance in particular, could lead the actress to star in her own film. We Got This Covered also says the project is being developed, although that could lead to nothing. Keep in mind, there have been many such rumors also about Disney Plus’ The Mandalorian, with plenty of gossip surrounding a potential film spinoff starring The Mandalorian or Baby Yoda, none of which has come to fruition yet.
But as We Got This Covered says, Marvel’s lineup is already pretty full for the next few years, and it seems like it would be quite sometime before Elizabeth Olsen could theoretically get her own film. However, Olsen certainly seems like she’s going to be an important part of Marvel’s Phase Four. Kevin Feige has said that WandaVision is the beginning of an unofficial trilogy that will continue with the third Spider-Man film and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. With all three of these projects seemingly delving into the multiverse, these three projects seem like a major building block for Marvel going forward.
Even if Elizabeth Olsen doesn’t get her own series, Wanda Maximoff will also be appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Feige has also said that WandaVision kicks off the events of this second Doctor Strange film. If Marvel was using WandaVision to start the events of the films, it would make some sense that Wanda could get her own film. But with Feige stating that WandaVision is the beginning of this unofficial trilogy, it makes one wonder what story there will be left for Wanda beyond the new Doctor Strange film.
But with Marvel making a multitude of Disney+ series centered around secondary characters, it seemed like an opportunity for Marvel to shine a light on these smaller characters. If this rumor is true about Elizabeth Olsen possibly getting her own film, it could show that Disney+ is using these shows to test the waters of how popular these characters are. If The Falcon and the Winter Soldier or Loki are also successes, could we also see spinoff films focusing on these characters as well?
As of right now, there aren’t any plans for Elizabeth Olsen to get her own Wanda Maximoff or Scarlet Witch film, and the upcoming final two episodes of WandaVision seem like they might be the end of her solo stories. But beyond Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, who knows what Marvel’s plans for this character are.
