Elizabeth Hurley is back in a movie fit for the holidays. Lionsgate’s Christmas in Paradise is available on DVD, Bluray, and digital as of November 11, and stars the actress as one of a group of sisters whose father has run off to the Caribbean after a traumatic breakup. The girls follow him to his pocket of paradise, only to find that he may not need rescuing after all.

The movie is the sequel to Father Christmas is Back, which was released in 2021 and also stars Elizabeth Hurley as Joanne Christmas, one of four sisters and daughters of Kelsey Grammer’s James Christmas, the patriarch of the family. In the new movie, Billy Ray Cyrus plays Jimmy, a reggae singer on the island who seems to be a hilarious self-parody. The country singer also provided the soundtrack for the movie and the trailer hints that Cyrus allowed a little Caribbean flair into his style.

Although there is a play on words involving the family surname, Christmas in Paradise is a holiday movie as three of James’s daughters, including Elizabeth Hurley, intend to bring James home for the Christmas holiday to help him recover from what they fear was a rough separation. The crossover of the name with the holiday provides an extra foundation to the movie’s message of family perseverance at a time of year when family is most celebrated. It is a sweet feel-good movie about parents and their adult children, and how these bonds are just as important as ever.

Elizabeth Hurley is best known on-screen for playing Vanessa Kensington in Mike Myers’ James Bond spoof, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. She also reprised the role for the sequel, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, in a cameo appearance. While this role was not her first, the Autin Powers movies are among her most popular.

Known for her beautiful face and gorgeous eyes, Elizabeth Hurley was also part of the smoldering love scene with Matthew McConaughey in EdTV, about a man who allows his life to be broadcast live. She got to exhibit her more evil side as the Devil in Bedazzled opposite Brendan Fraser, in which she tempts his character with 7 wishes in exchange for his soul. Her sexy costumes in that movie saw her nominated for a 2001 MTV Movie Award for Best Dressed.

She was also at one point dating actor Hugh Grant, but the mild-mannered appearing actor created a scandal when he cheated on her with a sex worker during their relationship. Elizabeth Hurley, who accompanied Grant to the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral wearing a low-cut Versace dress held together with safety pins, stood by Grant despite an amicable breakup. He is the godfather to her son Damien, who was born a few years after the couple split.

Although known for a punk rock look in her youth and for gracing the red carpet with stunning and cutting-edge fashion, Elizabeth Hurley is starring in a very wholesome movie about the importance of family bonds and support. Viewers can buy or rent Christmas in Paradise now, just in time to celebrate with family in preparation for Christmas.
