One of the best modern Christmas movies is coming back to theaters for the holidays. Warner Bros Discovery announced that Will Ferrell’s instant Christmas classic Elf will be coming back as part of the film’s 20th-anniversary celebration. The film is set to be screened in select theaters across the US and UK starting on November 17 (via USA Today).

Elf Returns To Movie Theaters

Elf, originally released in 2003, is a heartwarming, hilarious tale of Buddy the Elf (Will Ferrell), a human raised in the North Pole who travels to New York City in search of his biological father (James Caan). Buddy’s Christmas cheer and North Pole upbringing frequently clash with the more reserved demeanor. Jon Favreau directed the film, which has a cast rounded out by Zooey Deschanel, Bob Newhart, Edward Asner, and Mary Steenburgen.

To watch Elf in theaters, you’ll need to check your local showtimes to see if it’s showing in your area. Otherwise, you can always revisit the film on platforms such as Prime Video, Apple TV+, Google Play, YouTube, VUDU, and various other platforms where it’s available to buy, rent, or stream. Additionally, the film will be shown on TBS and TNT this month.

Where To Stream Elf

Warner Bros Discovery also said that the film will be streaming on Hulu and Max in December and that it will be shown on the AMC channel throughout the month. However, if you really want to get into the Christmas spirit and watch Elf in an extra special way, you can catch some of the showings at the iconic Empire State Building, where much of the film is set. Warner Bros Discovery has set up several special movie screenings at the Empire State Building for December 3, 10, 12, and 17.

Watch Elf Atop The Empire State Building

You can view Elf on the 80th story of the historic New York City building, and the showing will also have complimentary treats such as candy, snacks, and beverages. While tickets for the Empire State Building showing will run you over $100 each, you’ll also get to go up to the upper-floor observatories to view the city from astounding heights. It seems like it will be quite an unforgettable holiday experience.

Meet Buddy The Elf

Additionally, those who want to snap a picture with Buddy himself will be able to get a photo op with a life-size version of Ferrell’s lovable character in the Empire State Building’s 86th-floor observatory starting November 10. It seems like Warner Bros Discovery is really going all out for the 20th anniversary of Elf this year. It makes sense, too, as many people consider the comedy one of the best Christmas films out there.
