Eddie Murphy Returns As Axel Foley In Beverly Hills Cop 4 Poster
Eddie Murphy is showing off his badge of honor in the first poster to arrive from Netflix’s upcoming film, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley aka Beverly Hills Cop 4. The character’s face is on full display in the poster which features a beat-up flip wallet containing his ID and a badge. Throwing it back to where it all began, the badge has Axel Foley listed as a detective out of Detroit, which is how audiences first met the character in 1984’s Beverly Hills Cop and will catch up with him in the long-time coming fourth film.
Netflix Releases The Poster For Beverly Hills Cop 4
Just like the tattered wallet and the decades-old badge, the picture of Eddie Murphy’s character is also a few decades old, displaying a young man freshly on the beat of catching criminals. Some things will never change, though, and as we’ve seen from other shots of the making of the film, Axel Foley will still rock his iconic mustache in Beverly Hills Cop 4.
At the bottom of the poster, the studio reveals the film’s release window – Summer 2024 – meaning we’ll need to keep our eyes peeled on a more specific date in the approaching weeks and months.
The Cast
Along with Eddie Murphy (The Nutty Professor), Beverly Hills Cop 4 will also include the talents of Joseph Gordon-Levitt (500 Days of Summer), Judge Reinhold (Fast Times at Ridgemont High), franchise regulars Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot and John Ashton, Taylour Paige (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), Kevin Bacon (Footloose), Patricia Belcher (Good Luck Charlie), and Mark Pellegrino (Supernatural).
What Is Axel Foley Up To In Beverly Hills 4?
Eddie Murphy’s Axel Foley is doing his best to live up to the honor of his badge and the honor of fatherhood in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley. After losing one of his closest friends and confidants on the Detroit Police Department payroll, Axel Foley heads west for the busy streets of Beverly Hills to uncover rumored corruption within the Beverly Hills Police Department. It’s here that he’ll hopefully reconnect with his estranged daughter and her new boyfriend – both of whom prove to be helpful assets on his latest mission.
Beverly Hills Cop Released In 1984
This will be the fourth time that Eddie Murphy has played the role of the adventurous police officer out of Detroit, having previously appeared in the franchise’s first three installments which came out between 1984 and 1994.
While the original movie was a hit, quickly moving the studio to greenlight a sequel, interest began to fall off steeply after the second installment with the third being a major bust at the box office. But, reboots are all the rage these days, and Netflix was willing to take a risk and rebrand the franchise with Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley.
