Dwayne Johnson Wants A DC Vs Marvel Movie
Dwayne Johnson is set to cement himself in the world of superhero films, and now the man has revealed that he would love to be part of a DC and Marvel crossover in the future.
Dwayne Johnson is one of the biggest movie stars in the world, with the box office to back it up. His next big outing will be for Warner Bros. Discovery and DC’s Black Adam, where the actor will play the titled character. Although Johnson seems to have a pretty good relationship with the folks over at DC, that doesn’t mean he’s not willing to play in the Marvel sandbox. During an interview with Games Radar, the Black Adam star teased the possibility of there being a future DC vs. Marvel movie. Johnson said he was “optimistic” that such a film could happen and said that the extensive catalog of heroes and villains in the DC world makes it too much of a possibility.
Of course, Dwayne Johnson has even admitted that optimism is in his nature. However, he seems to stand by what he believes, even when the two major comic-book properties are in separate studios. Johnson said the following: “I am optimistic… just my nature is optimistic. And especially when it comes to creativity. Especially when it comes to movies. And especially when it comes to the pantheon of DC superheroes and supervillains. Across the street, we have the pantheon of superheroes and supervillains of Marvel. To me, they can not only exist but they should, in my mind, cross paths one day.”
After new leadership took over at Warner Bros., there has been an effort to change the perception and direction of the DC films. Fans saw this when the new studio CEO David Zaslav decided to ax the HBO Max Batgirl movie starring Leslie Grace, a move that shocked many in the industry. There also have been rumors of former Superman actor Henry Cavill appearing in the Dwayne Johnson Black Adam movie for a cameo. While a DC vs. Marvel movie would excite fans, it seems the new leadership in Warner Bros. wants to focus on getting their DC film universe on the right track. Black Adam may be one of the first steps in doing that, as it introduces a new set of heroes and a powerful new anti-hero.
Although DC appears to be traveling in its own lane, an actor like Dwayne Johnson perhaps may be the one to bring the two studios together for one mega-blockbuster comic-book film. The actor already has ties with Disney, having worked on many projects for the studio. During the red carpet for his Netflix film Red Notice, Johnson spoke to Variety about the possibility of seeing Black Adam, Wonder Woman, and Deadpool in the same movie. Interestingly, Wonder Woman and Deadpool are currently being played by his Red Notice notice co-stars, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot. Our trusted and proven sources also reported that Johnson would be an official “advisor” to the new vision of DC films. The actor has a lot of power and ties in the industry now, so maybe he could make such a big event happen.
Still, DC and Marvel are heading in different directions. While DC’s ready to release the Dwayne Johnson superhero film in a few months, Marvel is getting ready to end their Phase 4 with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The studio revealed its plans for the next few years at San Diego Comic-Con last month, and nowhere was there even a hint of a potential DC and Marvel crossover. As of now, both companies are focused on presenting their best products to audiences.
