Dwayne Johnson is smack dab in the middle of filming Black Adam and as such, continues his notoriously intense workouts to get the physique he needs to play the superhero. But as the Rock can attest, it isn’t all just pumping iron. He has himself on a strict diet which also helps chisel the already chiseled former WWE Superstar.
In his latest Instagram posting (he loves to update his fans on his progressions in life), Dwayne Johnson posted a midnight craving picture showing fans exactly what goes into his body as he prepares for a scene “that requires my shirt off.”
The picture Dwayne Johnson posted is of his #presleepmeal as he’s hashtagged it. From the other hashtags he posted, it looks like he’s chowing down on some buffalo and eggs along with an English muffin covered with no sodium peanut butter. You can see the whole thing below.
It’s obvious Dwayne Johnson takes this more than a little seriously. With an active game plan on just the right meal to eat before a specific scene, he’s thinking about things on a level most actors would never dream. But it’s what’s landed him a major starring role in what’s sure to be a blockbuster superhero film.
Black Adam has been a passion project for Dwayne Johnson for quite some time, having been attached to play the character since 2008. Initially, when the details finally came into focus, Johnson was scheduled to appear in Shazam! opposite Zachary Levi, but then it was determined that giving Johnson a solo Black Adam movie would not only be better for the bottom line. It would give fans a longer introduction to Black Adam and how he turns from good to evil.
In one Dwayne Johnson “update” posts concerning the movie, he said this about Black Adam and the DC Universe, “The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change. Training and prep for #BlackAdam has been a grind but this passion project outweighs the sacrifices. Truth, justice and the Black Adam way.”
To get himself physically where he wants to go, Dwayne Johnson has built himself what he calls his “Iron Paradise.” He built his indoor gym at his family farm in Virginia, sharing with his millions of followers a peek at paradise. Johnson explains that he is living in “God’s country” and since the land he lives on is state-protected Civil War land, he couldn’t build from scratch, so he had to take an already standing foundation to build his gym. It’s a jaw-dropping sight when he opens the door.
Finally, Dwayne Johnson also recently posted more videos in regard to the progress of the Black Adam filming, which also revolved around his continued workouts. Johnson states that they are now in the second phase of filming which requires him to maintain a certain look for the next three months, a feat Johnson claims is easier said than done.
Black Adam tells the story of Teth-Adam, an ancient Egyptian predecessor of Captain Marvel (Shazam!) who has been imprisoned for 5,000 years. Black Adam eventually finds himself in the present day while becoming the archenemy of Shazam!
Jaume Collet-Serra (Unknown, Non-Stop) is directing the film from a script written by Adam Sztykiel and Rory Haines & Sohrab Noshirvani. While Shazam! is not scheduled to appear in the movie (though you may want to stick around through the credits) Black Adam will introduce a few other iconic DC characters such as Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Kent Nelson / Doctor Fate.
Black Adam was initially set for a December 2021 release but as with most things Hollywood-related, the COVID pandemic had other ideas. Now the film is scheduled to premiere on July 29, 2022.
