How has Dwayne Johnson not joined Star Wars yet? He’s made his way into the superhero world with Black Adam for DC. He has to be thinking that Star Wars is the next big franchise for him to break into. That being said, this new rumor from Daniel Richtman is hardly surprising. The insider has shared with his Patreon page that he heard The Rock wants a role in one of the Disney+ Star Wars series. Specifically, he wants a part on The Mandalorian.

The rumor doesn’t get any more specific than that, so we don’t know if Dwayne Johnson is actively pursuing his contacts to land this role or what kind of part he wants. While the people in charge of casting decisions surely put a lot of thought into who they work with, what’s right for the project, and the overall good of their production, it does seem like a lot of how actors get cast comes down to who the actors know. For The Rock, that shouldn’t be a problem.

Star Wars and Lucasfilm are owned by Disney, which is why we watch The Mandalorian on Disney+. Dwayne Johnson’s history with Disney goes far back and continues today. He was in Race to Witch Mountain, Moana, and we’re about to see him in Jungle Cruise alongside Emily Blunt. While the world of Disney Studios is definitely a large one, The Rock is a big name. It shouldn’t be too difficult for him to get in touch with the right person if he wants to jump into The Mandalorian and hang out with Baby Yoda.

Another question here is how many episodes The Rock would want to appear in. Does Dwayne Johnson see himself jumping in for one episode? Once you’re established in Star Wars, the opportunity to come back even twenty years later is always there. Taika Waititi voiced IG-11 for The Mandalorian and now he’s directing a Star Wars movie. Diego Luna thought he had a one-time role in Rogue One and now he’s busy filming Andor, his own Disney+ series. Anything that gets made canon will be up for grabs forever. Heck, things that aren’t canon yet are still always on the table. Even if The Rock sees a part on The Mandalorian as a one-episode commitment, he should know Star Wars is a fandom that does not let go.

That hardly seems like something that would frighten Dwayne Johnson, though. He loves franchises and is always starting up new ones. Between Fast & Furious, Jumanji, San Andreas, and all the single projects he’s got going on, it’s hard to believe he has time to post on Instagram so much.

These days, Black Adam is taking up most of The Rock’s time. Dwayne Johnson has been working to play the anti-hero for nearly a decade. He’s gotten into the best shape of his life to play the role, which is really saying something. Now, filming has officially begun on the DC movie. If he’s going to appear on The Mandalorian, it likely won’t be until season four. The third season for the Disney+ is expected to begin filming any day, if it hasn’t already, so the overlap with Black Adam would likely be a problem for his schedule. Whether The Mandalorian is in The Rock’s future or not is unknown at this point. For now, we can plan on seeing him in Black Adam on July 29, 2022.
