More On Whether Dwayne Johnson Is Headed For Deadpool 3
With Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds working together quite frequently lately, a new report says Johnson might appear in Deadpool 3.

Despite being the highest-paid actor for two years running, and one of the biggest names in action films, it’s almost shocking that Dwayne Johnson has never been in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film. The actor has joined all sorts of franchises like Fast & Furious, Jumanji, and Journey to the Center of the Earth, yet he’s arguably one of the biggest stars that haven’t appeared in a Marvel film yet. However, a new rumor suggests that Johnson may finally make the leap with Deadpool 3.
The second-highest-paid actor of 2020, Ryan Reynolds, finally looks to be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Deadpool 3, and according to this rumor from We Got This Covered, Dwayne Johnson might also make an appearance. It’s unclear if Johnson would have a major role in the film, or would just be a quick cameo. Yet considering how big of a get Johnson would be for Marvel, it doesn’t seem likely they’d use him for just a small joke, the way the series previously did with Brad Pitt. If anything, maybe Johnson would appear as himself, leaving the possibility of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe at a later point.
But also it doesn’t seem likely that Marvel would want to have Dwayne Johnson appear in Deadpool 3 around the same time that the actor will be making his debut as Black Adam in the DC Universe. While Deadpool 3 is still in development, Black Adam is reportedly going to start filming in April of this year. It’s entirely possible that Black Adam and Deadpool 3 would be coming out rather close to each other, and having Johnson in both probably isn’t ideal for Marvel or DC.
Even if Dwayne Johnson were to appear in Deadpool 3 as a major character – which seems extremely unlikely – he would be the first major actor to actively be a part of both the DC and Marvel Cinematic Universes. Again, that probably wouldn’t be good for either studio, and would make Johnson’s already insanely busy career even more nuts. If this rumor is to be believed, it seems far more likely that Johnson would make a quick cameo as himself.
This cameo would probably, fittingly, be like Ryan Reynolds’ cameo in Hobbs & Shaw, in which Reynolds got a great scene with Dwayne Johnson, and a few solid jokes later, but he wasn’t exactly essential to the film. With Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds working together in Hobbs & Shaw and starring together in the upcoming Red Notice for Netflix, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that these two could appear together in Deadpool 3.
But more than likely, this rumor is probably someone who sees Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson working together more frequently, and having wishful thinking that Johnson might also make a cameo in Deadpool 3. Right now, this seems little more like speculation, as Johnson will probably have his hands full with Black Adam and a ton of other projects, while Marvel likely won’t want to waste Johnson for a quick joke. However, we can confirm that audiences will be able to see Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson together in Red Notice, coming to Netflix later this year.
