Dwayne Johnson Has A Brand New Action Film In The Works
Dwayne Johnson has another action film in the works right now though he'll have a slightly different role in this one than others.

Dwayne Johnson may go down as one of the biggest action stars ever when it’s all said and done. With hit movies coming out seemingly all the time and a comic book franchise coming down the pike as well, there’s nothing this guy can’t do. Now he has another action movie on the way, but for this one, he’ll have a slightly different role. Instead of starring in the production, he’s going to be producing it. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dwayne Johnson is teaming up with some others in the industry to get Emergency Contact up on the big screen.
Dwayne Johnson is part of a solid team bringing this movie to the screen and getting it into production. As part of the news from THR the film is set to be an action turn through and through with the words “high concept” and “high octane” being thrown out there. The interesting caveat is that it involves the underground music scene in Austin, Texas. Didn’t see that last part coming at all, but could make for an interesting movie. How the concert part works remains to be seen though could give the whole thing a totally different feel.
In addition to Dwayne Johnson, we have some other names attached to this next movie. Yahya Abdul-Mateen is set to star in the film and will also be an executive producer. Most recently, Adbul-Mateen was one of the stars of HBO’s Watchmen in which he played Cal Abar. The character definitely took a different and rather surprising turn in the show and he was awesome in the role. This will be one of the first primary action films of his career. He was also one of the stars of The Trial of the Chicago 7.
Dwayne Johnson is producing through his Seven Bucks Productions which has typically been involved in putting up Johnson-led movies. Some of those have been Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Next Level as well as Fast & Furious Present: Hobbs and Shaw, Skyscraper and Rampage among others. And they have plenty coming up soon as well like Red Notice and Jungle Cruise, both of which will have Johnson in a starring role.
And of course, the big one for Dwayne Johnson is the upcoming Black Adam. It’s currently filming and will be the next big addition to the DC Extended Universe. Johnson will star as the titular character and will bring the antihero to the screen in a big way. It’s set to walk down the path of bringing Black Adam from more of a villain in the universe into a superhero role. It’s also set to establish the Justice Society of America to the DC Universe.
There’s no clear timeline on when Emergency Contact will actually hit the screens with a lot of the core details still under wraps. But there’s an almost never-ending list of movies Dwayne Johnson will have his hands in over the next few years, many of the action variety and this is the next addition.
