Dune: Part Two Reveals Stunning New Footage That Needs To Be Seen
The second trailer for Dune: Part Two has dropped.
The second official trailer for Dune: Part Two just dropped, and it looks like Denis Villeneuve has done it again. In the stunning trailer, we get glimpses of new characters, massive action set pieces, and a choice line from the books to cap it all off. Check out the epic trailer for yourself below.
Needless to say, Dune: Part Two looks like it will be an even more expansive and epic follow-up to Villaneuve’s adaptation of the first half of Frank Herbert‘s seminal sci-fi novel.
As we can tell from the trailer, we will get to see a lot more of Zendaya‘s Chani than we got in the first film since she was mostly only seen in Paul’s visions. We also get our first good look at Christopher Walkens’s Emperor Shaddam IV and Austin Butler’s fearsome Feyd-Rautha.
Other highlights from the trailer include Timothee Chalamet’s Paul Atreides riding a sandworm for the first time and reuniting with Josh Brolin‘s Gurney Halleck after being separated by House Harkonnen’s attack.
Dune: Part Two will see Paul Atreides continue to integrate with the Fremen society as he prepares to exact revenge on House Harkonnen after destroying his family and killing his father. Needless to say, fans of the first film and the book should definitely be excited about this.
Denis Villeneuve returns to direct Dune: Part Two and co-writes the script with Jon Spaihts. Returning cast members include Timothee Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Zendaya as Chani, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Stellan Skarsgard as Baron Harkonnen, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Dave Bautista as Beast Rabban, Stephen McKinley Henderson as Thufir Hawat, and David Dastmalchian as Piter De Vries.
New cast members include Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Lea Seydoux as Lady Margot, Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha, Souheila Yacoub as Shishakli, and Tim Blake Nelson in an undisclosed role.
Judging by this trailer, and the visuals of the previous film, seeing Dune: Part Two on the biggest screen possible is going to be a must. The sound design alone of the previous film makes seeking an IMAX or Dolby-enabled theater well worth the price of admission, especially since it seems like this film will be even more action-oriented than the previous film.
Hopefully, Dune: Part Two ends up performing as well or better as the previous film, so Denis Villeneuve can continue the franchise if he chooses.
Villeneuve has expressed interest in adapting the sequel Dune Messiah, which would probably be amazing in his capable hands. Even if that doesn’t pan out, we can at least look forward to the upcoming TV show based on the Bene Gesserit titled Dune: The Sisterhood.
Dune: The Sisterhood will be a prequel series on HBO Max, set 10,000 years before the events of Dune. The series is set to follow two Harkonnen sisters as they form the sect that would eventually become the Bene Gesserit. While there’s no word on when we can expect that series to come out, we can look forward to seeing Dune: Part Two in theaters on November 3 of this year.
