Drew Barrymore Is Bringing Together A Reunion Of Stars For Her Best Movie
Drew Barrymore brought back together the cast of Ever After: A Cinderella Story for its 25th anniversary.
Ever After: A Cinderella Story was released July 31, 1998, which means this year marks the film’s 25th anniversary. To celebrate the occasion, Drew Barrymore (E.T.), reunited with co-stars Melanie Lynskey and Megan Dodds on a recent episode of her talk show The Drew Barrymore Show. A short clip from the installment was shared on the program’s official Twitter account, and it features the trio of stars in full costume, reminding fans of the story they told back in 1998.
In the brief video, Drew Barrymore dons an enormous pair of fairy wings, as she holds hands with her Ever After: A Cinderella Story co-stars. “We’re just here in a time machine back twenty-five years ago because it’s the 25th anniversary of Ever After,” said Barrymore.
She went on to express her disbelief in being able to reunite with her onscreen stepsisters, Melanie Lynskey and Megan Dodds, who she fondly referred to as her sisters.
Directed by Andy Tennant, Ever After: A Cinderella Story is a romantic drama that retells the classic Cinderella fairy tale. Drew Barrymore stars in the lead role as Danielle de Barbarac, a young woman who overcomes adversity to find her true love and live happily ever after. Melanie Lynskey and Megan Dodds play Jacqueline and Marguerite, respectively.
The film’s production was a labor of love for Andy Tennant, who spent years researching and developing the story. He wanted to create a version of the Cinderella story that was more grounded in reality and focused on the strength and resilience of the main character. The movie was shot on location in France to capture the stunning landscapes and historic buildings.
Upon its release, Ever After: A Cinderella Story received mostly positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. The film was praised for its strong female characters, nuanced storytelling, and beautiful visuals. Drew Barrymore’s performance as Danielle was particularly well-received, with many critics noting her ability to imbue the character with both vulnerability and strength.
The 48-year-old star’s role as Danielle was a departure from the more light-hearted and comedic roles she had played in the past. Drew Barrymore reportedly underwent extensive training for the film, including horseback riding and sword fighting, to prepare for the physical demands of the part. Considering her performance in the movie was widely praised, her hard work clearly paid off.
In addition to starring in Ever After: A Cinderella Story, Drew Barrymore also served as a co-producer on the film, further showcasing her commitment to the project. Her involvement helped to shape the story and ensure that it stayed true to its original vision. Barrymore’s dedication to the movie and her performance as Danielle have helped to cement its place as a cult classic, with many fans considering it to be one of the best adaptations of the Cinderella story.
Since starring in Ever After: A Cinderella Story, Drew Barrymore has continued to work as an actress, producer, and entrepreneur. In addition to her talk show, she has appeared in numerous films and television shows, including the hit Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet. Currently, she and Adam Sandler are looking for another movie to work together on.
