New Dragon Ball Anime Shown Off In Disgustingly Adorable First Look
The Dragon Ball franchise first started in 1984. Since then, it has had additional manga series, several anime series, animated and live-action films, specials, crossovers, games, and more. Dragon Ball Daima is set to be the newest, but likely not the last, installment of the franchise, and fans may be excited to know more information has just been released in the newest teaser trailer.
Take a look at the new trailer and see for yourself:
Though the story sounds similar to Dragon Ball GT, as all of the main characters end up much younger than usual, Dragon Ball Daima has a very unique plot. What little has been provided about the storyline is that some conspiracy changes Goku and his friends into children. Now, they must travel to an entirely new world to return to normal.
It’s said to take place between Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super. There is also a suggestion that Supreme Kai and other side characters will have a fairly significant role, which would also make Dragon Ball Daima different from Dragon Ball GT.
The trailer and visual released for Dragon Ball Daima on July 19, 2024 offers a wide range of scenes from the upcoming animation.
Besides that, though, what Goku and friends will face in Dragon Ball Daima is pretty up in the air. Even the trailer offered little more information, just a few quick scenes to show the style and hints as to the importance of some of the never-before-seen characters.
Dragon Ball Daima is the sixth anime of the Dragon Ball franchise, after Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Super, and Super Dragon Ball Heroes. It’s set to be directed by Aya Komaki (One Piece) and Yoshitaka Yashima (Legend of the Galactic Heroes), as a part of Toei Animation Studio (Sailor Moon). Additionally, the original voice actor for Goku, Masako Mozawa (Galaxy Express 999) will be returning to the role.
While no exact date has been set yet, fans now know that Dragon Ball Daima will be released sometime in October of this year.
Interestingly, Dragon Ball Daima was originally meant to be an anime-original series, which means there would have been no input from the original Dragon Ball creator, Akira Toriyama. However, he kept giving little notes of advice to the studio and director. In the end, he ended up becoming a major part of the production, creating several parts of the story.
This is actually pretty amazing news, as it means the original creator had a major influence on Dragon Ball Daima, more so than usual, which was the last Dragon Ball anime to be produced before he passed away on March 1, 2024. All other additions to the franchise after this, if there are any, will be done only based on his original story, and not have any involvement from the creator himself.
