For decades, Dr. Seuss has created content to entertain children. Even though he passed years ago, Dr. Seuss’s work continues to live on. Not just with his books, but also with the movies inspired by the words that he wrote. We’ve seen movie adaptations from stories such as The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who, and The Grinch. Now, it seems that there will be one more adaptation based on Dr. Seuss’s work.

Deadline reports that Dr. Seuss’s final book, Oh, The Places You’ll Go! will be adapted into a feature film. The story follows a child as they go exploring the world. The story debuted in 1990, a year before the author’s death. According to Deadline, Dr. Seuss’s Estate and Warner Bros. Animation Group started working together in 2018. First came the animated TV show, Green Eggs, and Ham, a collaboration between the estate and Warner Bros. It’s an adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s book. It came out on Netflix in 2019, and a second season is on its way, according to Deadline.

Oh, The Places You’ll Go! will be another collaborative effort. Deadline states that the two companies have already found a director for the upcoming animated film, John M. Chu. The website explains that the movie will be a musical, which makes Chu a good choice based on some of his previous work.

Chu has a long experience working on musical and dance films. He was the director of musical films such as Jem and the Holograms and 2021’s In the Heights. He was also the director of dance films like Step Up 2 and Step Up 3D. However, he’s been a part of films that weren’t musicals. G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Crazy Rich Asians were both directed by Chu.

Apart from Chu, it’s also reported that Bad Robot, the production company, will also be involved in the adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s Oh, The Places You’ll Go!. Deadline reports that J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella will be producers on the film. Bad Robot Productions has produced a long list of movies including the Cloverfield series, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and the most recent Mission: Impossible films. Although Bad Robot Productions has an impressive list of films under their belt, they have more coming in the future. Mission Impossible 7, a Cloverfield sequel, and a Star Trek sequel are all movies Bad Robot is working on at the moment.

Although it looks like they have a lot on their plate, they don’t have to worry about overcrowding. Deadline reports that Oh, The Places You’ll Go! is far from a scheduled release. The musical won’t come out until 2027, six years from now. It also won’t be the only film collaboration between Warner Bros. and the Dr. Seuss estate. It’s reported that they have other adaptations in the works. This includes an adaptation of The Cat in the Hat and a Thing One and Thing Two film. Fans of animated films and TV shows should be excited for the upcoming years because there are plenty of projects arriving in the future.
