Dolly Parton

Actress and singer Dolly Parton is known for her success in the country music industry. The singer has 44 career Top 10 country albums, which is the most for any artist in the genre. Parton now appears to be diving headfirst into a new industry as she announced the launch of “Doggy Parton.” According to CNN, “Doggy Parton” is a line of dog apparel and pet accessories. Parton is partnering with SportPet Designs for the project.

For pet owners out there, the line will consist of shirts, dresses, squeaky toys, and a blond wing inspired by Dolly Parton herself. While comfort and style look to be the aim here, Parton also announced that a portion of the proceeds would go to an animal rescue organization called Willa B. Farms. The products will be available through DoggyParton.com and Amazon. In a statement from Parton, she revealed what inspired her to start her own pet apparel and accessory line.

“‘Puppy Love” was my very first record and 6 decades later, my love for pets is stronger than ever. This inspired me to start my own line of Doggy Parton apparel, accessories, toys and more with a little ‘Dolly’ flair. Part of the proceeds will support Willa B Farms, a rescue where animals in need find never-ending love. Don’t we all need that?'”

In addition to her work as a country music star, Dolly Parton manages several entertainment venues and is the founder of the Dollywood Foundation. The charitable organization manages several projects related to education and poverty relief. Parton also was the co-owner of Sandollar Productions, which help produce projects such as Buffy The Vampire Slayer, the Father of the Bride series, Sabrina, and others. In 2006, she donated $500,000 to a proposed $90 million hospital and care center, which was named after the physician who delivered her. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the singer donated $1 million towards medical research and was a strong proponent of vaccination. Parton also contributed to a telethon in response to the 2016 Great Smokey Mountains wildfires. She hosted her own telethon in the same year and managed to raise $9 million for those who were affected by the disaster.

Regarding her work as a musician, many have called Dolly Parton one of the most influential and incredible country music artists of all time. Twenty-six of her songs reached #1 on the Billboard country charts, and she had 42 career Top 10 country albums to brag about. Parton also was inducted into numerous Hall of Fames, including recently into the 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Interestingly, the country music star denied the induction because she believed that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should only be for artists in the rock industry. However, she would later accept the induction. Parton’s last studio album, Rose, Rose, Rose, was released back in March and peaked at #34 on the Billboard 200. It was met with mostly favorable reviews, with many who listened to it praising the energy and Parton’s songwriting.

When announcing the new pet line on Instagram, Dolly Parton referenced one of her oldest songs, Puppy Love, when promoting the new pet line on Instagram. Parton was just 11 years old when she wrote the song with her uncle. Goldband Records released the song in 1959. Even back then, Parton showed a love for animals. While Dolly Parton’s new pet line may be a bit surprising for some who just know her country music work, those familiar with the singer’s outside endeavors know Parton is willing to try pretty much anything. Her influence inside and outside the music industry knows no bounds, and she continues to be a force in the entertainment industry. Now that Parton has a new pet line, one has to wonder what other ventures she’ll announce next. Whatever it is, fans can be sure she’ll give it her all.
