In spite of a relatively slow start Doctor Strange 2, aka Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, wound up decimating the competition at the box office. So far the multiverse-spanning sequel has raked in $377 million domestically and $879 million worldwide. For those Disney+ subscribers waiting to enjoy the film from the comfort of their living rooms, the time is almost here. Marvel Studios just announced the film’s streaming date, and here’s a hint: it will be streaming on Disney+ before Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters July 8.

More specifically, Doctor Strange 2 will be available for Disney+ subscribers to stream starting Wednesday, June 22. That should make that day a pretty big one for the still comparatively young streaming service so we hope they’ve got everything secured up. Along with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘ streaming premiere, that day will also bring a new episode of Ms. Marvel — whose first episode streams next Wednesday, June 8 — and the season 1 finale of Obi-Wan Kenobi. You can see Marvel’s announcement tweet below.

Doctor Strange 2 proved to be a bit of a divisive film among fans and critics. While cult favorite horror director Sam Raimi had made superhero films before — specifically the Tobey Maguire-led Spider-Man trilogy — the nature of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness allowed for Raimi to cut loose with his darker sensibilities in ways the Spider-Man flicks never had. As a result, Doctor Strange 2 feels like no other Marvel film before it. Along with Raimi’s signature flavor of camp, it’s filled with scares, incredible visuals, and a lot more carnage (the actual kind, not the symbiote kind) than anything else in the MCU. The film also saw Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff go full villain and become a bonafide mass murderer.

There was also some disappointment among fans in terms of the multiversal cameos expected with the flick. While Marvel had never confirmed his appearance, many fans believed reports that Tom Cruise would appear in the film as a variant of Iron Man. Fake Doctor Strange 2 credits were even passed around social media, indicating a crazy amount of cameos including Ben Affleck as a variant Daredevil, Lou Ferrigno as a variant Hulk, Leonardo DiCaprio as a variant Spider-Man, and even cast members from the mostly forgotten 1978 Doctor Strange TV movie.

Instead Doctor Strange 2 boasted the comparatively small but still welcome cameos of actors playing Earth-838 variants. John Krasinski played a variant Reed Richards, Anson Mount was Black Bolt, Hayley Atwell played Captain Carter (though a different version from who we meet in What If), Patrick Stewart as Professor X (again, different from the Fox movie Xavier), and Lashana Lynch as Captain Marvel. We also got to see Benedict Cumberbatch play three of his own variants — Defender Strange, Sinister Strange, and briefly the Earth-838 Strange. In the film’s final battle, he uses the corpse of Defender Strange to battle Wanda as Zombie Strange, and it’s just about the best thing ever.
