Doctor Strange 2 Plot And Main Villain Revealed
The Doctor Strange 2 plot is starting to come better into focus.

More of the pieces to the Doctor Strange 2 puzzle are coming together! While Marvel is keeping the plot for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness tightly under wraps, more and more insiders are coming away with similar stories that begin to paint a clearer picture of what to expect. A couple of weeks ago, insider Daniel Richtman reported that he’d heard Shuma-Gorath, a major villain from the Marvel Comics, would be in one of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. Knowing Shuma-Gorath’s comic history, all signs point to Shuma-Gorath as the villain for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Now, The Illuminerdi has done some digging with their sources and a fuller picture is coming together.
According to their sources, Shuma-Gorath is the official villain for Doctor Strange 2. Moreover, Shuma-Gorath’s evil plan will involve going after America Chavez, who has the ability to open doors to alternate realities. Shuma-Gorath has a history of traveling through universes and attempting to steal powers, so this entirely makes sense with what we’ve seen of the villain in the past. It also means that a giant eye-ball with green tentacles will be showing up on screen for the first time in Doctor Strange 2. Take a look at this image from the comics below, where Shuma-Gorath is saying, “I fed on the screaming souls of universes; I drank the spoiled milk of dead stars; I am the emptiness outside all understanding. I. Am. Shuma-Gorath.” (Villains can be so dramatic.)
If what The Illuminerdi is hearing proves true for the plot of Doctor Strange 2, this will be the first time we’ve seen Shuma-Gorath on a movie screen. Previously, we’ve seen them in video games and comics. It’s also the first time we’ve seen America Chavez, also known as Miss America. She is being played by Xochitl Gomez. Some of her abilities include flying, extra strength and durability, and when she travels to alternate realities, she does so by kicking a star-shaped hole to travel through. She’s an incredibly fun teenage superhero and her abilities to travel through the multiverse make her a perfect character to join up with Doctor Strange.
If Shuma-Gorath is showing up in Doctor Strange 2 and targeting her, it would make sense both that Strange shows up to fight Shuma-Gorath, and that the villain may start going after him as well. In the comics, Shuma-Gorath cannot be killed. Instead, Doctor Strange regularly shows up to send him to another dimension.
Of course, there are still so many questions about what’s to come for Doctor Strange 2. We know that Elizabeth Olsen will appear as Scarlet Witch. Many have previously wondered if she is the actual main villain of the movie, or perhaps even Mordo. But if Scarlet Witch isn’t the main villain, she’ll likely be jumping in with all kinds of additional trouble to make things more complicated. In a recent interview with Glamor in Spain, Olsen said that she’s excited for her fans to get to see the upcoming film, especially the “Wandavision part”. Naturally, that tells us just enough to make us wish we knew more about Doctor Strange 2. We’ll be watching for more of these hints and clues as they come together.
