Go! Go! Loser Ranger

Go! Go! Loser Ranger was one of the most anticipated anime of the year, and the first season lived up to the hype. Now fans can rest assured that more is on the way, as the finale episode of the season revealed that the second season is coming out in 2025. The anime first aired on April 7 and each episode has been available to stream on Disney+ worldwide the same day as it airs on TV.

Go! Go! Loser Ranger is adapted from Negi Haruba’s manga of the same name, which was first published in Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2021 and its chapters have been collected in 14 tankobon volumes to date. The series takes place 13 years after the Divine Dragon Rangers, or Dragon Keepers, defeated the Villainous Army of Evil. However, the nearly-immortal foot soldiers of the army have been forced to re-enact their defeat in front of spectators every week, until one of the foot soldiers decides he’s going to take down the Dragon Keepers from the inside.

Lack Of Marketing Is A Disservice To The Series

Go! Go! Loser Ranger is directed by Keiichi Sato (Tiger & Bunny) with Yostar Pictures producing the animation. The anime has been fairly popular, but it perhaps hasn’t gotten as much attention as other major new anime releases this year like Kaiju No. 8 and Wind Breaker. Some fans have pointed to Disney’s lack of marketing for the series, as there hasn’t been a huge push to get eyes on the show.

The Sub Or Dub Dilemma

Still, Go! Go! Loser Ranger clearly had enough people watching to get the second season green lit, and perhaps its viewership will rise even higher as the dubbed episodes of the series have started releasing. Those who prefer watching a dub over a sub will have to continue to wait patiently, as only half of the episodes have been released for the dub so far. If the dub is popular enough, then there’s always the possibility that the dubbed episodes will get released a bit quicker when the second season rolls around.

A Must-See For Fans Of The Boys

The first season of Go! Go! Loser Ranger has received largely positive reviews, outside of some critiques of pacing issues, but it’s a solid action anime with a “who’s really the good guys” twist on the formula. The plot of the series has drawn a lot of comparison to Prime Video’s The Boys, with the Dragon Keepers having a lot of power and not being as heroic as they appear in their well-marketed public appearances. Of course, the series is clearly drawing a lot of inspiration from Power Rangers too, so it’s essentially The Boys if the Seven were Power Rangers instead.

On top of getting a second season of Go! Go! Loser Ranger, it was also recently announced that a stage play of the anime will run in Tokyo this September. Maybe that play will get enough attention to warrant more stage places elsewhere in the world, like the Attack on Titan play. If you want to check out the first season of Go! Go! Loser Ranger for yourself, you can stream it on Disney+ and Hulu.
