Disney Refusing To Replace The Marvels Star Accused Of Grooming Children?
Despite recent allegations of sexual harassment toward a minor, Marvel's Mohan Kapur can still be seen in the new The Marvels trailer.
Today brought the excitement of the first trailer for the highly anticipated MCU feature The Marvels, but someone appearing in the teaser is putting fans on high alert. As we first reported to you several months ago, Ms. Marvel and now The Marvels star Mohan Kapur has been accused of grooming and sexually harassing a 15-year-old girl. Following the first launch of claims on Twitter, neither Kapur, Disney, nor Marvel has responded with a comment.
The accuser initially shared her allegations at the end of November 2022 by stating that she first met The Marvels star through an Indian serial actress, thought to be Achint Kaur, who Mohan Kapur was dating back in 2014. First striking up a friendship with the young girl, the accuser says that Kapur began to flirt with her and eventually, allegedly, sent her unsolicited photos of his genitals. Being that she was just 15 at the time, should these claims be proven to be true, these would be clear examples of not only grooming and sexual harassment but also a federal offense.
While the accuser says that the Ms. Marvel star initially apologized for his alleged actions, she went on to reveal that Mohan Kapur only briefly stopped the harassment. According to her statement, Kapur would continue to bother the 15-year-old girl with marriage proposals and lofty words of love and affection, as well as sharing his desire of sleeping with her when she was of age. She also says that when she went to his partner for aid, she was only met with gaslighting, with her friend turning the tables and believing that she was the villain.
Since the initial accusations, and last year’s arrival of the series Ms. Marvel, no more accusations surrounding Mohan Kapur have come to the light. But, today’s arrival of The Marvels trailer is kicking up dust all over again as the actor can be seen in different moments throughout the first look.
Playing the father of Ms. Marvel, aka Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), Mohan Kapur can be spotted throughout the trailer, which also includes the likes of Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau. While the scenes with Ms. Marvel and her family are filled with laughter and quirky moments, knowing that some heavy allegations are swirling out there surrounding the person that Kapur could be is troubling.
Set to land on November 10, The Marvels finally brings together the trio of superheroes as their powers become enmeshed with one another after Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel (Larson), investigates a bizarre wormhole. The trailer reveals that every time one of the ladies uses their powers, they trade places with one of the other women, creating a lot of confusion and laughable moments. Also appearing in The Marvels trailer is Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Zawe Ashton as Dar-Ben, and Kamala Khan’s family, which includes Mohan Kapur as her father.
There’s also a split-second clip of a slew of cats on the move, which could point to everyone’s favorite Flerken, Goose, bringing some new friends on board.
Because Disney and Marvel have yet to release a statement surrounding their position on the allegations hurled at Mohan Kapur, we can’t know what the actor is thinking or how he views the situation. As always, you can count on GIANT FREAKIN ROBOT to bring you all information as it becomes available.
