Disney recently confirmed at its Q3 earnings presentation that it would be moving forward with the December 8 release of the Jonathan Majors film Magazine Dreams. Majors is currently facing an impending domestic violence trial after an incident with his ex-girlfriend in March and a string of abuse allegations regarding his on-set behavior. Majors and his legal team have denied both the domestic violence and abuse allegations (via CBR.com).

Disney still plans to release Jonathan Majors’ Magazine Dreams this December, despite his current trial concerning domestic violence allegations.

Magazine Dreams stars Jonathan Majors as Killian Maddox, an up-and-coming amateur bodybuilder who has to balance his ambitions with taking care of his ill grandfather. Elijah Bynum directs the film, and it also stars Mike O’Hearn, Haley Bennett, and Taylour Paige. Magazine Dreams first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January to positive reception.

While Jonathan Majors’ Magazine Dreams is getting the go-ahead from Disney, his allegations and arraignment led to him being dropped from his talent management company Entertainment 360, as well as several projects and ad campaigns.

At least for now, we should expect to see Jonathan Majors play Kang again in the upcoming season of Loki.

Magazine Dreams was also dropped from the CinemaCon promotional slate in April due to the recency of the allegations in March. Ahead of the allegations, Majors’ Hollywood star was quickly rising after starring in Creed III, the HBO series Lovecraft County, the Disney+ series Loki, and several other major projects.

Jonathan Majors’ role in the Disney+ series Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania remains the biggest question mark amidst his ongoing legal troubles. Majors played He Who Remains in Loki, who was revealed to be a variant of Kang the Conquerer. Majors played a villainous variant of Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and is set to continue playing the role in numerous Marvel projects to come.

Kang the Conquerer is being set up as the next major Thanos-level villain in the MCU and will be facing off against the Avengers eventually in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

While Disney and Marvel Studios have yet to confirm anything official, Deadline reported that Marvel isn’t having any conversations at the moment about recasting Jonathan Majors’ Kang in the MCU. It’s likely that we won’t hear anything official on the front until a verdict is reached at Majors’ domestic violence trial in September.
