Disney Backpedals After Accidentally Leaking Major Marvel Spoiler
Marvel releases a huge Mantis spoiler through the recently pulled Marvel Studios Legends Drax and Mantis episodes.
Finding out major plot points in the MCU is quite difficult, though sometimes the stars of those movies and shows can often let things slip. It is not often that Marvel messes up and reveals its own spoilers, but that has now happened via the new Marvel Studios Legends Drax and Mantis episodes. If you do not want to read about this spoiler, look away now, but Disney and Marvel have accidentally revealed that Mantis is also a child of Ego through a deleted scene in the previously mentioned episodes.
Marvel is usually quite good at keeping its secrets and often has said that the deleted scenes are generally not canon and should not be taken as spoilers. However, with those Drax and Mantis episodes being pulled, it could mean that Mantis being a child of Ego is true. This is a huge implication that she is a sibling to Peter Quill and could hold some huge importance for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Another reason that this Marvel spoiler is significant is that Drax and Mantis are the leading characters in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, so Marvel pulling those episodes means that there could be a lot of truth to this huge spoiler. Again, it is not often that the MCU is guilty of ruining its own plot points, but certain ones do slip through the cracks at times.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special does come out this Friday, and we are likely to see what important MCU plot points are going to carry the ragtag superhero team forward. James Gunn had stated that the holiday special holds implications for the grander MCU and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 stories, so this Marvel spoiler might just be a huge one that the company attempted to hide. The issue is that there are plenty of internet sleuths who seek out this information and post it online for the world to see.
Marvel may have had to stop its own big spoilers, but now we know that Mantis could be related to Peter Quill and Ego. It would make sense for that to be the case, as Ego revealed he traveled the universe to plant his spores so that he could command all living things. Ego could have visited the planet where Mantis is from and created her.
Marvel spoilers might be something that no one wants to read about or find out about, but in this internet age, it is hard to ignore all of them. We will all certainly find out the truth once the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special comes out this weekend, and we would presume that the Marvel Studio Legends episodes with Drax and Mantis are going to return as well.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special officially debuts on November 25th on Disney+. Star-Lord, Mantis, Drax, Rocket, Groot, Gamora, and Nebula are all back to spread Christmas joy and bring in some more Marvel spoilers of their own. We just hope that chasing Kevin Bacon isn’t going to traumatize the man.
