Disney Makes Alien ABC Book For Preschoolers
Disney is releasing a new Little Golden Book featuring one of the scariest horror franchises in the genre, Alien. The book will be entitled A is for Alien: An ABC Book. The Disney Storybook Art Team illustrated the children’s book, and the description on the back of the publication reads as follows …
“In space, no one can hear you giggle as you read this Little Golden Book, featuring the characters from the classic movie Alien! Follow Ripley and the rest of the Nostromo crew on a space adventure that introduces the alphabet from A to Z”.
Alien Gets Its Own Little Golden Book
The Disney Alien adventure will be intended for kids between the ages of 2 and 5. While it will definitely soften the horror aspect of the movie, the book is purposed to serve as a sort of introduction for kids to the nature of the horror genre.
Disney Acquires More Horror Franchises
While it does seem a bit weird for Disney to be tinkering with a horror cornerstone like Alien, it’s somewhat exciting to see the company expand in creative ways. After acquiring Fox, Disney now has access to some of the most beloved horror brands such as Predator, The Omen, and even Fight Club (Of course, it’s not really a true horror flick, but Disney owns Fight Club?).
Until now, Disney hasn’t had much of a reach into the horror realm, much less with aliens. The Nightmare Before Christmas and Hocus Pocus about sum up the Disney horror section, but the merger of Fox and Disney will open up new possibilities for Disney in a more sinister section on the shelves.
Is It Age Appropriate?
However, a Disney children’s book featuring a gory movie with killer aliens does seem intriguingly strange. Hopefully, the text will leave out some of the more terrifying elements of the film like the “face-huggers” and the alien babies bursting out of people’s stomachs. For horror lovers with small children, the new Disney Alien book could serve as a gateway horror piece for their young ones to begin carrying on their love affair with the genre early in life. Of course, they will also be learning to refine their reading skills along the way.
Alien: Romulus Releases In 2024
Though moviegoers haven’t seen much out of the franchise since the last movie Alien: Covenant was released in 2017, there is news of a new film dropping next year. Disney and Fox worked together to produce Alien: Romulus. Romulus takes place in a time that exists between the first and second movies in the franchise. Ridley Scott (the director of the very first Alien movie) returned to direct the last two movies in the franchise, but he won’t be working on the newest addition to the collection. Instead, Fede Alvarez will be heading the project.
How To Purchase The Alien ABC Book
Disney did well with their first Alien project as Fede Alvarez is an exciting addition to the franchise as far as horror enthusiasts are concerned. His work on movies like Evil Dead (2013) and Don’t Breathe are widely considered to be top-notch additions to the modern horror genre. Meanwhile, while you wait for the next Alien movie to drop, you can stream the original Alien on Hulu, and you can pre-order Disney’s A is for Alien: An ABC Book for just $5.99 on the Penguin Random House website. The book will be officially released on July 9, 2024, and the new Alien: Romulus movie will premiere on August 16, 2024.
