Netflix Renews Fan-Favorite Anime for Season 2
Studio Trigger’s Delicious In Dungeon anime, adapted from the manga by Ryoko Kui, has just finished simulcasting its first Season on Netflix, and the fans are already asking for seconds (pun intended). Fortunately for the fans, the busy people at Studio Trigger have been cooking a surprise, and they’ve served it with a brand-new trailer on the side, announcing that Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 has been put in the oven. All we have to do now is wait for it to be done.
We Don’t Know When, But Season 2 Is On The Way
Following the release of the series’ first season, the team behind Delicious in Dungeon announced that the show is receiving a second season thanks to the strong reception from the fans.
The upcoming season is currently in production, and while we did receive a quick teaser trailer, numerous details pertaining to the upcoming release remain unknown.
One of those details is the release date; Studio Trigger didn’t specify when Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 is going to hit streaming once again, but it’s safe to assume that the release is likely to happen in the following year or so.
Another Party Of Adventurers
Just like Season 1, Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 is going to follow an unlikely party of adventurers—numerous anime have taken several elements from RPGs and TTRPGs—who set out to explore a perilous dungeon and cook unexpectedly delicious meals with the monsters they slay along the way.
Doesn’t actually differ much from the cooking system in numerous MMORPGs, such as the World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, or even the ancient Guild Wars 2. So, it’s safe to assume that Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 will resume its narrative in pretty much the same direction.
Fans Can’t Wait
Given just how popular Season 1 became over the course of its 24 episodes—partially thanks to Netflix simulcasting the episodes— Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 is now a highly-anticipated continuation of a hit anime coming from a studio responsible for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and the legendary Kill la Kill—the latter of which ranks at around 8 or 9 (on a 1-to-10 scale) for the amount of fanservice content it contains.
For those who don’t know what that means, it’s all the panty shots and the nip-slips in anime.
Inverting The Tropes
Thankfully, Delicious in Dungeon doesn’t feature fanservice content, apart from that one upskirt shot of Senshi, revealing his muscular thighs and gluteus maximus—which is expected from fantasy-setting dwarves, who are very strong, thanks to their sturdy build and a low center of gravity.
Well, it is worth noting that the series’ fandom certainly loved the inversion of the trope and has been very vocal about it, so it’s entirely possible for Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 to increase the number of such jokes going forward.
More News To Come
With everything said, the original manga ran for 97 chapters and concluded in September of 2023, with Season 1 covering the first 52 chapters with its 24 episodes. So, it’s entirely possible for Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 to have a similar number of episodes, with plenty of adventure for our heroes to go to and develop new, delicious recipes as they traverse the dungeons.
