You Missed The Best Deadpool & Wolverine Cameos

It’s an open secret that Deadpool & Wolverine is a movie filled with cameos. After all, we see the return of Deadpool’s found family and the re-introduction of several Marvel characters that originated in earlier 20th Century Fox films. Because of all those highly visible cameos, chances are that you missed out on the big names behind the army of Deadpools that appears near the end of the film, including everyone from Nathan Fillion to most of Ryan Reynold’s family.

Nathan Fillion

Before we dive into these secret Deadpool & Wolverine cameos, it’s important to review the context in which they appear in the film. Earlier in the movie, our titular heroes learn that the Void (a kind of wasteland exile destination for the TVA to fill with discarded heroes and villains) is filled with plenty of Deadpools.

In this case, Chekov’s gun is gold-plated, and the earlier setup pays off when a small army of multiversal Deadpools show up to fight Wolverine and Deadpool before they can defeat Cassandra Nova and save the multiverse.

Having all of these mercenaries except Nicepool wearing a mask meant that Deadpool & Wolverine could hide some great voice cameos inside this prolonged scene. For example, remember that version of Deadpool was nothing more than a talking head?

His name is Headpool (of course it is), and this character from the Marvel Zombies universe is voiced by Nathan Fillion, a frequent voice actor who has now made four different cameos in the MCU.

Matthew McConaughey

Speaking of famous faces in Deadpool & Wolverine, Cowboy Deadpool hid another big-name cameo underneath that 10-gallon hat. This character is voiced by Matthew McConaughey, someone who previously passed on a chance to join the MCU back in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Scuttlebutt is that he was offered the chance to play Ego and turned it down, but regardless of who he originally declined to play, the Hollywood veteran didn’t waste his second chance to become a Marvel star.

Blake Lively

As for the rest of the Deadpool & Wolverine cameos in this scene, many of Ryan Reynolds’ family members secretly loaned their voices out. For example, Reynolds’ wife and fellow actor Blake Lively voiced Lady Deadpool.

She also previously starred in Gossip Girl, which is why Reynolds’ character (he notably helped write the film) has an earlier raunchy joke about how there are 206 bones in the human body… 207 if I’m watching Gossip Girl.”

A Family Affair

Reynolds and Lively managed to make Deadpool & Wolverine cameos into a genuine family affair. For example, Kidpool is played by their kid Inez Reynolds, and Babypool is played by another kiddo, Olin Reynolds.

Incidentally, Nicepool is credited to “Gordan Reynolds,” but that’s not a family member—instead, that’s the name Reynolds made up for his fake twin brother, one that he has cheekily “interviewed” on his personal YouTube channel.

Maximum Effort

Obviously, the Deadpool & Wolverine cameos most people are talking about include the return of beloved actors like Wesley Snipes and even Chis Evans. And certainly, seeing these familiar faces onscreen was enough to make any Marvel fan shout for joy.

But all the great voice cameos hidden inside the film’s most ambitious action sequence are proof that you’ll need to watch this hit movie several times, applying “maximum effort” to catching every little Easter Egg.
