Deadpool Star Not Returning For Third Movie
Zazie Beetz, who played Domino in Deadpool 2, has confirmed she's not returning for the third film.
News surrounding the highly anticipated arrival of Marvel’s Phase 5 film, Deadpool 3, has been at an all-time high as of late. Between news surrounding who will be joining the cast or coming back to reprise their roles and the recent revelation that the premiere would be bumped up several months (something very unusual for a Disney or Marvel movie these days), it’s been a great time to be a fan of the Ryan Reynolds-led superhero franchise. Unfortunately, with all the great updates, some are also bound to hit us like a gut punch, with Zazie Beetz announcing that she won’t be returning for the third feature.
According to Decider, the star said that she wouldn’t appear in Deadpool 3 after being asked about how the WGA strike may be affecting production and if the film’s director, Shawn Levy, would be reeling Ryan Reynolds in when it comes to the actor’s notorious amount of ad-libbing. When posed with these questions, Zazie Beetz said that because she wasn’t a part of the latest Deadpool flick, she was unsure about how they were handling the strike and Reynolds’ improvisations. Speculating on what was likely happening for the team, Beetz said, “I’m assuming they’re probably taking a pause,” before sending her well wishes to the cast and crew, noting that she was “excited to watch it.”
This is definitely the worst news we’ve received regarding what Levy and the rest of the gang have in store for us in Deadpool 3. With so many other actors returning to the film for the next chapter in the story, it seemed only fair that Zazie Beetz would be back to play Domino. Meeting Reynolds’ quick-witted hero as a member of his X-Force, Domino was one of the only ones to walk away from the action with her life and because her tone meshed with Deadpool’s so well, it seemed incredibly likely that she would be making her return in the third movie.
As for who we can expect to see in Deadpool 3, although Zazie Beetz’s Domino won’t be back to kick butt, her fellow X-Force member Peter (Rob Delaney) is using his second chance at life to make the world a better place alongside Deadpool and his fellow heroes. The movie will also bring Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine into the picture with additional performances from Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Shioli Kutsuna, Stefan Kapičić, Emma Corrin, and Matthew Macfadyen.
As for her life outside of Disney and Marvel’s Deadpool 3, the Emmy Award-nominated Zazie Beetz has been keeping herself busy with project after project. When Decider caught up with the Atlanta star, she was celebrating the arrival of her Max series, Full Circle, which will soon be airing as well as her one-off episode in Netflix’s latest season of Black Mirror. Last year, Beetz lent her vocal talents to The Bad Guys and was seen duking it out with other assassins in Bullet Train, with her next big screen role being the reprisal of her character Sophie Dumond in Joker: Folie à Deux.
