Deadpool & Wolverine Introduces The Most Powerful And Terrifying Marvel Villain, See Them In Action
It’s crazy to think that just a few months ago, we only had pictures taken by eagle-eye fans to shape the plot for Deadpool & Wolverine and now we have not one, but two trailers. After teasing the arrival of today’s look, the team over at Marvel Studios certainly didn’t disappoint with an action-packed, f-word filled nearly three-minute trailer that not only shows Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine but also gives us our first peek of Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova. While spoilers for the film have seemingly been plenty, images of Corrin’s character were largely kept under wraps, making this an important moment as she steps in front of the camera and onto Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine’s (Hugh Jackman) necks.
Cassandra Nova is the twin sister of Charles Xavier, aka Professor X, and she has the same unstoppable telepathic powers.
In the trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine, we see the two titular characters meet in a bar where Wolverine is down on his luck. As we come to find out, this version of the character majorly lets down his world, and Deadpool’s been tasked with helping him find his way and get his mojo back. The pair, their weapons, and their potty mouths slice, dice, and bullet their way through enemies while a few shots of Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova see the supervillain giving both mutants a run for their money.
The previous Deadpool & Wolverine trailer primarily focused on Deadpool and his life following the events of Deadpool 2. We also got information about how Succession’s Matthew Macfadyen would join the cast as a member of the Time Variance Agency (TVA) and how the group would play a crucial part in the threequel’s plot. Now, with the arrival of Cassandra Nova, we have even more to look forward to when the movie slashes into theaters on July 26.
Cassandra Nova first appeared in 2001’s New X-Men #114.
One of the most popular baddies to come from the comic books, Emma Corrin’s character will make her live-action debut in Deadpool & Wolverine. Cassandra Nova is the twin sister of Charles Xavier, aka Professor X, and she has the same unstoppable telepathic powers. Her hobbies include genocide and chaos and, in the comics, she made her stamp on the universe by executing 16 million mutants living peacefully on Genosha.
It’s unclear where Deadpool & Wolverine will find Cassandra Nova on her journey but because Wolverine is on the hunt for a bit of redemption, there’s a solid chance that she’ll be bent on another plan of genocide. The trailer also included some nifty time portals which could mean any number of things including the boys hopping into our current MCU timeline or maybe jumping into some events that have already happened. Either way, we’re excited to see how it all plays out.
Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters July 26.
While this Deadpool & Wolverine trailer centered on Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova, the movie is also filled with the return of numerous characters from the franchise’s first two films including Morena Baccarin and Rob Delaney. Rumors have also suggested that Jennifer Garner will be reprising her role of Elektra from the early 2000s Marvel films but we have yet to see her in a trailer – maybe next time!
