DC’s Titans Trending After Major Raven Reveal

DC’s Titans unveiled an epic transformation at the midpoint of its fourth season, and fans on Twitter are out of their minds about the reveal. After losing her powers earlier in the season, Raven reclaimed her abilities during a battle at the Temple of Azarath and leveled up to her most powerful form, White Raven. The HBO Max show is turning heads with Raven’s epic transformation and comic-accurate costume.
Raven’s hair turned white this season when her powers were drained by Mother Mayhem and stored in a stone that was hidden within the Temple of Azarath. After Beast Boy went gorilla mode and released Raven’s magic, Raven’s goth duds were magically replaced by a shimmering white cloak and white, lacey sleeves to match her already snowy hair. With the transformation, Titans takes notes from previous Teen Titans stories that have introduced White Raven.
White Raven has appeared in DC comics and animation, including Cartoon Network’s popular Teen Titans animated series from the early 2000s. Her transformation always comes as a result of freedom from the darkness of her father, the interdimensional demon Trigon. In most instances, the transformation is not permanent, but whether the White Raven retains her form in the upcoming second half of Titans’ fourth season has yet to be revealed.
Titans’ reveal of White Raven is not the first major debut for the series’ fourth season. The season begins with the show’s first (and last?) appearance of Lex Luthor, who wills Lexcorp to the young hero just before his apparent death. Season 4 also adds a new villain for the Titans, Brother Blood, who in this canon is the son of Trigon and half-brother of the now White Raven.
Titans introducing White Raven marks a high point in fan reactions for a series that already has a dedicated base. Despite its strong following, Titans has been on the chopping block for Warner Bros. Discovery in recent months, along with other DC cult hits like Harley Quinn and Doom Patrol. So far, all three have managed to stay alive during the restructuring of Warner Bros. Discovery.
The most notable shifts for DC have been the cancellation of Batgirl, which was set for HBO Max and then scrapped for a tax break, and the appointment of James Gunn and Peter Safran as heads of DC Studios. The shifts behind the scenes are geared toward a more unified DC Universe. That vision casts suspicions on shows like Titans, but in the era of multiverses, anything is possible – just ask White Raven.
A return date for Titans season four has not yet been announced, but it can’t come soon enough for fans eager to see more White Raven in live action for the first time. The trouble brewing in season four so far points to an epic run toward the season finale. With only six episodes left before the conclusion, fans can expect plenty of action when the show returns.
The first three seasons and the first half of season four of Titans can be streamed on HBO Max.
