Saturday Night Live fans who were hoping to get more background information on all their favorite performers, skits, and more, will be happy to hear that Audacy’s Cadence 13 will be carrying on their deal with comedians and SNL alumnus, David Spade and Dana Carvey. The network has announced that the duo’s behind-the-scenes podcast, Fly on the Wall will be returning for a second season in January 2023.

The first season, which hit airwaves back in January 2022, saw David Spade and Dana Carvey sit down with a slew of ex-Saturday Night Live personalities, musical guests, writers, and more to dish on their favorite memories from their time on the weekly show. During the premiere season’s run, audiences tuned in to hear the hosts chatting with the likes of Martin Short, Bob Odenkirk, Rob Lowe, Tina Fey, Tom Hanks, Bill Hader, Laraine Newman, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Mike Myers, Jimmy Fallon, Jon Lovitz, Conan O’Brien, John Mulaney, and Tim Meadows. While the follow up season’s lineup hasn’t been announced, it’s sure to include some knockout talent on the same legendary caliber as the first.

Accompanying the big announcement, David Spade and Dana Carvey shared a statement recounting being asked to join the podcast last year. Carvey talked about a phone call he received from his close friend asking him if he would be at all interested in sitting behind a microphone and talking about their experiences on Saturday Night Live. He was already sold on the subject matter, but when Spade informed Carvey that he would indeed be able to do the gig from the comfort of his own basement and in his pajamas, Carvey giddily obliged and the rest is history.

David Spade and Dana Carvey crossed paths on Saturday Night Live in the early ‘90s, close to the end of Carvey’s seven season run. The two would perform alongside each other from 1990-1993, which is when Carvey left the show. Carvey would also star in the iconic SNL based production, Wayne’s World and its sequel Wayne’s World 2 alongside Mike Myers. Since then, Carvey’s held roles in productions including Trapped in Paradise and The Master of Disguise

David Spade stayed on the variety show for one season less than Dana Carvey, but still left quite an impression for the years and comedians to follow. Like Carvey, Spade is also a master of impressions and landed various fan favorite sketches throughout his tenure. Breaking into the world of film, Spade would famously star alongside fan favorite SNL star Chris Farley in Tommy Boy and would go on to star in comedies including Joe Dirt, Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star, Grown Ups, and The Wrong Missy. His voice has also appeared in several animated features including The Emperor’s New Groove and in the Hotel Transylvania franchise.

Along with hosting, David Spade and Dana Carvey also executive produce Fly on the Wall alongside Cadence 13’s Chris Corcoran. Brillstein Entertainment Partners’ Charlie Finan co-executive produces with Heather Santoro. If the first season told us anything, it’s that we’re in for a world of laughs when the podcast returns early next year.
