Dave Bautista’s Twitter account says that he is a “poor kid chasing dreams”. In recent years, he’s worked with Marvel on Guardians of the Galaxy, he’s worked with Zack Snyder for Army of the Dead, and he’s played Beast Rabban Harkonnen for Dune. Most recently, he got to work with director Rian Johnson and stars like Daniel Craig on Knives Out 2. Clearly, the star has big dreams and is making them happen. One more is apparently on the way. As announced by Deadline, Dave Bautista has been cast in the lead role of Knock At The Cabin. The movie is set to be written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, the director responsible for The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Old.
After Deadline broke the news, Dave Bautista was free to celebrate on Twitter. He shared that working with M. Night Shyamalan was another dream come true for his career.
Little is known about M. Night Shyamalan’s new project with Dave Bautista. The writer and director has made a strong name for himself in the industry. He has the privilege of not having to share too much about his upcoming project too early on. Just knowing that the director is involved will make enough people want to see it. His movies are most well known for having satisfying and interesting plot twists. While his most recent movie, Old, had a large ensemble cast, most of his movies are known for having one main lead, like Bruce Willis in Unbreakable and The Sixth Sense, Mel Gibson in Signs, or James McAvoy in Split.
M. Night Shyamalan also shared his excitement to work with Dave Bautista. He said that the star chooses risky roles and isn’t afraid to be vulnerable. He didn’t specify how the actor has been vulnerable, but he may have meant the way that the actor put his goals out there on social media. This is something his fans have noticed and commended him for.
Only a few months ago in August 2021, Dave Bautista tweeted that he wanted to make a buddy cop movie with Jason Momoa. He said that he was throwing the idea out into the atmosphere and would wait to see what happens. He pitched the movie as something similar to Lethal Weapon. The two actors have worked together on See. Last month, studios went into a huge bidding war over the project. It’s happening. It seems that the actor has a talent for throwing his wishes out there and making them come true. That’s always an inspiring journey for others to watch, and a brave out. Putting his dreams out on social media, where they can be ridiculed and met with public failure, must be a scary thing. It’s certainly paying off for him.
Currently, Dave Bautista is expected to join the cast of Dune 2, which will release on October 20, 2023, two years after the first film. For Marvel, fans will next see him in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. He’s working on Guardians of the Galaxy 3, which will likely be his final time playing Drax.
