Dave Bautista Opens Up About The Biggest Change In His Life
When something or someone looks completely different than what we are used to, the natural human reaction (often) is to get worried something might be wrong. Such is the case with Dave Bautista, who has gone through a crazy transformation in recent months, now looking nearly unrecognizable from the dude who really captured fans’ attention in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
Dave Bautista Is Much Skinnier
Now, Dave Bautista looks considerably different (read: skinny) by comparison and that’s had fans more than a little worried something might be up with the actor. They feared maybe his health was suffering in some way.
Bautista has addressed it, and the truth is actually quite the opposite. He is skinnier now because he says he was “too fat” before.
Knock At The Cabin
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Dave Bautista talked about putting on major weight for his role in M. Night Shyamalan Knock at the Cabin. Bautista said about the weight gain, “…I got really big. I was like around 315 pounds and I put the weight on really fast.”
Big In The Movie
Yikes, that is big, and it showed in the movie. In Knock at the Cabin, Dave Bautista plays Leonard, the leader of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who, well, knock at the cabin.
They call on a family to make a sacrifice in order to fend off the apocalypse. You know, standard AirBnb stuff.
After Drax
Dave Bautista says he needed to bulk up for the role following Guardians of the Galaxy in which he played a massively muscular Drax the Destroyer. Knock at the Cabin needed him looking a little doughier, hence the burgers and pancakes diet he put himself on to gain just mass (minus the muscle).
The Killer’s Game
Now, Dave Bautista is looking completely different, saying he’s weighing in at 240 pounds on his 6’4” frame. It was this transformation which shown through during his press for The Killer’s Game, Bautista’s latest action movie, which released in theaters on September 13. 2024.
The movie, as of this writing, has been a box office bomb, pulling in just $2.7 million on its $30 million budget. Dave Bautista plays Joe Flood, an assassin who puts a contract on his own life when he realizes he’s dying from a debilitating disease. Only problem? He was misdiagnosed and now needs to actually survive.
It’s a disappointing return to say the least though shouldn’t cut into Dave Bautista’s industry cache all that much.
More To Come From Dave Bautista
This guy has been one of the most sought-after actors in the game in recent years. He’s finished with the Marvel Cinematic Universe following Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, starred in Dune: Part Two and The Last Showgirl and My Spy The Eternal City.
Plus, coming up, Dave Bautista is set to star in Afterburn, Trap House, and Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, among many others. Is he looking different? No doubt, but Dave Bautista fans don’t need to worry. It’s actually a good thing that his weight is down. We could all take a page out of his (very large) book.
