It’s a great time for fans of legal TV. She-Hulk is giving us a lawyer sitcom with superhero action, Better Call Saul gave as an Emmy-level drama for the ages, and the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again might be diving deeper into Matt Murdock’s civilian job as a lawyer. At least, that’s what star Charlie Cox seems to be hoping for.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cox spoke about his wishes for Daredevil: Born Again. Unlike the previous Disney+ Marvel series, the series has a ton of breathing room with 18 episodes for the first season. Cox spoke about this, saying “What I hope that does is give us longer to really live in the characters and to spend more time in Matt Murdock’s world as a lawyer and still have all the cool Daredevil superhero stuff.”

Daredevil: Born Again is a series that Marvel fans have long been hoping for. When all the Netflix Marvel shows were finished, fans were unsure if they would ever see those characters show up in the proper MCU. Everyone’s wishes came true when Matt Murdock showed up to briefly represent Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Kingpin showed up as the antagonist behind-the-scenes in Hawkeye.

With the characters properly reintroduced into the MCU, fans were waiting to see what Marvel had planned for their future. Marvel gave us a resounding answer at San Diego Comic-Con, revealing Daredevil: Born Again as part of their Phase 5 projects. It is worth noting that Cox has said the new series won’t be connected to the Netflix series.

Still, it does seem like Daredevil: Born Again will be more of a soft reboot than a radical departure. With both Charlie Cox returning as Matt Murdock and Vicent D’Onofrio returning as Kingpin, there’s some continuity for fans to latch on to. While there isn’t much information about Daredevil: Born Again other than those two cast members, we do know that it’s set to come out in 2024.

That’s certainly a long time to wait to see Daredevil and Kingpin back in action, but Marvel will be keeping fans relatively sated until then. The end of the previous She-Hulk episode teased Daredevil’s helmet, and Cox is set to appear in the next episode. Reportedly, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will also be reprising their roles for the upcoming Echo series, which is set for a 2023 release.

The only question that remains is if Marvel will bring back the rest of their Netflix characters into the fold. While they might not get their own series like Daredevil: Born Again, it would be exciting to see Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist introduced to the MCU proper. There’s little doubt that fans would line up for a Defenders movie or a new Defenders series.

If you want to see Charlie Cox back in Matt Murdock’s lawyer suit (and hopefully the Daredevil suit) you won’t have to wait very long at all. The new She-Hulk episode comes out Thursday, so we’ll probably see much more of Matt Murdock in the MCU than we’ve seen so far. It remains to be seen how much screentime Daredevil gets, but at the very least it will hold us over until Echo and Daredevil: Born Again.
