Danny Trejo And Joel McHale Teaming Up For A Bill And Ted Rip-Off
Danny Trejo and Joel McHale are starring in Tim Travers & The Time Travelers, a film that messes with the concept of time travel movies.
Films like Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and The Terminator have enjoyed long lives and many sequels built on the concept of time travel. Now another film will take a crack at the head scratching phenomenon. Adapted from a short film of the same name, Tim Travers & the Time Travelers Paradox is on its way, and per a report by Deadline, Danny Trejo and Joel McHale are coming with it.
The film follows a scientist named Tim Travers who sets out to answer a simple question: what happens if you travel back in time and kill your younger self? The answer proves to be complex and of magnificent consequence as Travers contends with multiple versions of himself spawned from his tampering with time. Danny Trejo will play Royce, a mercenary who is after Travers, and Joel McHale is set to play James, a conspiracy theorist whose radio interview with Travers structures the movie.
The short film version of Tim Travers had success at film festivals across the country in 2022. The feature-length version filmed in late fall of 2022 in Spokane, Washington, bringing back actor Samuel Dunning as the title character and adding Danny Trejo, Joel McHale, and Keith David to the cast. Some of Snead’s producing partners from the short film followed the director to the feature, eager to support his vision.
Tim Travers does not yet have a release date, but a sneak peek of the movie will play for potential buyers this February at the Berlinale European Film Market. The clout of stars like Danny Trejo and Joel McHale will certainly turn some heads toward the first time filmmaker. Both actors are legends in their own right.
Danny Trejo is best known for films like Machete, Spy Kids, and From Dusk Til Dawn. Trejo works a lot, from big budget blockbusters to small indies, all while being the face and namesake a successful taco eatery in Los Angeles. Danny Trejo boasts an impressive action film background, which should make him a perfect fit for Snead’s mercenary antagonist; Joel McHale, on the other hand, is perfect for a radio host because he is best known for being great at talking.
Snarky bursts of wit are Joel McHales’s specialty, and he has made quite a career out of it. From The Soup to Community, McHale has perfected the art of sarcasm. In addition to joining Danny Trejo in Tim Travers, Joel McHale will star in Dan Harmon’s Community movie this summer, and the actor has a new comedy on Fox titled Animal Control poised to debut on February 16, 2023.
Joel McHale is also set to appear in the kidnapping comedy California King, and is rumored to flex his fighting muscles in the upcoming Mortal Kombat sequel as the Hollywood action star Johnny Cage. Danny Trejo and Joel McHale are both busy actors, and Stimson Snead hit the jackpot with the two actors appearing in his first feature film.
