Dakota Fanning has been in the public eye since she was seven years old, when she co-starred with Sean Penn in the poorly-aged drama I Am Sam. She has grown into a well-regarded actor (and the youngest-inducted member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences), recently starring in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and the Sandra Bullock Ocean’s reboot. Now, our trusted and proven sources tell us that Dakota Fanning has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe and we are ready to speculate about the role.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently in the midst of Phase Four, which has included super-anticipated projects like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man No Way Home and has yet more to come with Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, we think the most likely role for Dakota Fanning in the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be in the most mysterious and anticipated project of all: Fantastic Four

Specifically, we speculate that Dakota Fanning will be joining Marvel as Susan Storm aka Sue Storm aka Sue Storm-Richards aka the Invisible Woman. Since Disney purchased 20th Century Fox and acquired the rights for Marvel’s First Family, there has been rampant speculation as to who could play the characters in the announced feature film. Fans were blown away by the sudden unexpected appearance of John Krasinski as the world’s smartest man, Reed Richards, in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (even after rampant fan-casting of The Office star), but that still leaves three members.

Dakota Fanning would fit the bill of the famously blonde Marvel superhero, as well as bring some of that child prodigy energy to one of the more scientifically-based superhero teams. The Invisible Woman has long been considered one of the most significant and influential female characters in comics history and casting an acclaimed actor like Dakota Fanning would be a good way for audiences to understand her Marvel significance. Plus, again, blonde.

Fantastic Four was first announced all the way back in July 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, which essentially was an eon ago. The fact that there has been very little information released about the film has been taken by some as a troubling sign, but Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige also doubtlessly knows the fan expectations that will be on the movie (especially after a history of mediocre to terrible Fantastic Four film adaptations). A ringer like Dakota Fanning as Marvel’s Invisible Woman could be a key part of finally getting a successful FF movie.

It is entirely possible that John Krasinski will reprise his role as Reed Richards for Fantastic Four, which would presumably pair him up as a romantic interest for Dakota Fanning in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We have speculated that a certain famously handsome actor could be cast in an important Fantastic Four role, which could create something of a potential love triangle. But for now, we will just have to wait and see if the MCU finally manages to nail this one.
