Daisy Ridley’s New Star Wars Payday Reportedly Huge
Daisy Ridley will reportedly receive a huge payday for reprising her role as Rey Skywalker in her new Star Wars movie. Ridley is allegedly slated to earn $12.5 million for the film, which continues Rey’s story 15 years after the events of 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. Although specifics about the plot are limited, the plot is said to revolve around Rey as she rebuilds the Jedi Order.
The Daisy Ridley Star Wars Pitch
The Daisy Ridley-led film was first announced at the 2023 Star Wars Celebration.
In a recent interview, the actress said Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy persuaded her to return to the franchise. Ridley said that Kennedy invited her to breakfast and, during the meal, casually mentioned that Lucasfilm was contemplating doing another Star Wars movie.
After considering the pitched story, Daisy Ridley decided she was in. “I thought about it for a little bit and once I knew what the story was and everything I knew it was something I really wanted to do,” she said.
“I think it’s a really fantastic exploration of the Star Wars world. It’s a really cool way of taking the story on in a bit of a different direction.”
Only Daisy Ridley Confirmed
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has been tapped to direct the movie from a script by Peaky Blinders filmmaker Steven Knight, who has yet to begin work on the screenplay.
Daisy Ridley is the only confirmed actor for the upcoming film, rumored to carry the title Star Wars: A New Beginning. However, speculation suggests that John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, or Adam Driver could be added to the cast.
Rey’s Journey
Daisy Ridley played a crucial role in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, which began with The Force Awakens in 2015.
Rey’s journey unfolded across subsequent films, The Last Jedi in 2017 and The Rise of Skywalker in 2019.
Her character faced formidable adversaries and ultimately emerged as a central figure in the conflict between the Resistance and the First Order.
Daisy Ridley’s portrayal not only anchored the Star Wars sequel trilogy but also contributed to Rey becoming an iconic Star Wars character.
Despite having a few detractors, Ridley’s dedication to the role, combined with her on-screen charisma, left an enduring impact on the Star Wars saga, establishing her as a standout figure in the faraway galaxy.
Not Just Daisy Ridley
The Daisy Ridley movie is one of many cinematic Star Wars projects slated for the next decade.
The most eagerly awaited feature is recently announced The Mandalorian & Grogu, with Jon Favreau serving as director and producer alongside Kathleen Kennedy.
The highly anticipated project is set to begin production sometime in 2024, with a tentative release date of 2025.
More Star Wars Coming
Other Star Wars films in the works, besides the Daisy Ridley project, include director James Mangold’s upcoming movie exploring the origins of The Force.
The story is set during the Dawn of the Jedi era, which would be approximately 25,000 years before the events of the 1977 flagship film, Star Wars: A New Hope.
And Yet Even More Star Wars
Dave Filoni is also directing a Star Wars feature film set in the New Republic era.
The movie is expected to end the post-Return of the Jedi storylines told in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and the upcoming Skeleton Crew created by Jon Watts and Christopher Ford.
The latter was announced at the 2022 Star Wars Celebration and stars Jude Law, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, and others.
