The project will launch to buyers at the Cannes market later this month. Production is scheduled to begin on location in London early next year.
Described as a thriller, Magpie is being produced by Daisy Ridley alongside Tom Bateman of Werewolf Films and Kate Solomon of 55 Films. Speaking to Deadline about the project, the producers said their aim with Magpie is to create a Hitchcock-like story that will take audiences on a genuine ride.
They want it to be fast-paced and beautiful so that folks can look at it with tension that builds from the start and keeps everyone guessing to the very end. Expressing his excitement about Magpie, Yates told the publication he immediately connected with Tom Bateman’s ingenious, intoxicating script. He added that he’s excited to take audiences on a wild, surprising thrill ride with a stellar cast led by the incomparable Daisy Ridley.
