The CW Finally Renews Fan Favorite Series For Season 11
The popular unscripted series Penn & Teller: Fool Us has been renewed for an 11th season. The news comes a month after the show, in which contestants perform magic tricks before magician-comedian duo Penn & Teller, was dropped by The CW. However, the network has since had a change of heart, with President of Entertainment Brad Schwartz describing the show as a “crazy consistent performer.”
FBoy Island Didn’t Make The Cut
Schwartz added that one of The CW’s biggest priorities was trying to find another unscripted show to join Penn & Teller: Fool Us on Friday nights. The network is currently working on reorganizing its unscripted slate after dropping reality show FBoy Island, which didn’t work as it was “too young” for broadcast television. Penn & Teller: Fool Us Season 11 is expected to hit screens in early 2025.
Only The Best Co-Hosts
Penn & Teller: Fool Us is a reality competition where aspiring magicians perform their best tricks in front of the world-famous magicians Penn & Teller. Each episode features a selection of contestants performing their acts in front of Penn & Teller and a live studio audience. Penn & Teller privately confer after each performance to determine if they can figure out how the trick was done.
If they are unable to figure it out, the magician wins a “Fool Us” trophy and a chance to perform with Penn & Teller in their Las Vegas show. The show has had several hosts throughout its seasons, including talk show host Jonathan Ross (Seasons 1 and 2), Alyson Hannigan (Seasons 3 to Season 9), and Brooke Burke (Season 10).
A Long-Running Unscripted Show
Penn & Teller: Fool Us is produced by 1/17 Productions and September Films, in association with DCD Media, and has been on the air since 2011. The show has received positive reviews, with viewers praising its supportive and respectful atmosphere, as well as its focus on the art of magic. Season 10 premiered in October 2023 and came to an end in April 2024.
The Dynamic Duo Has Been At It Forever
Penn & Teller have had a long and successful career in television before Penn & Teller: Fool Us, where they introduced viewers to their unique blend of magic, comedy, and showmanship. One of their earliest shows was The Unpleasant World of Penn & Teller, which ran from 1991 to 1993. The British television series established their irreverent style and willingness to push boundaries.
In the late 1990s, they created Penn & Teller’s Sin City Spectacular, a variety show that featured music, comedy, and magic performances. This show ran for two seasons and showcased their ability to work with different art forms. Their most controversial show was Penn & Teller: Bullsh*t!, a documentary series that debunked myths, superstitions, and pseudoscience.
Off The Deep End
Other notable shows include 2005’s Penn & Teller: Off the Deep End, a special that featured them performing underwater magic tricks, and 2011’s Penn & Teller: Tell a Lie, a game show in which contestants had to guess whether Penn and Teller’s statements were true or false. Penn & Teller: Fool Us has been their latest and arguably most popular show to date.
