Hit Crime Movie On Paramount+ Unites Multiple Music Stars
Long before Marvel’s Avengers movies started uniting Hollywood superstars in some of the most ambitious crossover events of their time, a few select films were developed with the purpose of uniting the biggest stars in cinema, theater, music, and beyond. One such film, 2005’s Four Brothers, contains a cast made of multiple music stars from different genres, each bringing their own trademark blend of wit, humor, and personality into the mix.
Four Brothers is currently streaming on Paramount+ for those interested in checking out the action-packed crime film.
The Cast Has Musical Roots
The core cast of Four Brothers consists of Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, Garrett Hedlund, and André Benjamin, best known by his rap moniker André 3000. While Benjamin’s accolades as one half of the prolific rap duo Outkast are well-established, average filmgoers may not be aware of his co-stars’ musical exploits.
Mark Wahlberg once fronted a boyband as a rap vocalist and breakdancer under the name Marky Mark, while Tyrese, best known for appearing in the Fast & Furious franchise, is a decorated R&B singer, with half a dozen Grammy nominations to his name.
Garrett Hedlund’s Country Ties
Garrett Hedlund is the Four Brothers lead least associated with music, though he has been known to lay down some soulful country anthems to accompany his film work. Hedlund is best recognized for starring in Tron: Legacy or Paramount’s Tulsa King alongside Sylvester Stallone.
Though the musical careers of each Four Brothers star don’t tie into the narrative of the film much, these connections do make for an interesting viewing experience, which may leave you reenacting the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing at the TV meme when you watch the film at home.
The Four Brothers Unite To Hunt A Killer
The plot of Four Brothers centers on a quartet of adoptive siblings, each raised by a lovely, altruistic woman named Evelyn Mercer. In the opening scene of the film, Evelyn is a bystander in a convenience store when a robbery goes horribly awry, resulting in her untimely death. As a result, the band of brothers unite in her Michigan neighborhood, with the intention of tracking down their mother’s killers and bringing them to justice, by any means necessary.
Unraveling A Criminal Conspiracy
As the plot of Four Brothers unfolds, audiences are introduced to the complex dynamics and clashing personalities of the siblings, including Mark Wahlberg‘s career criminal Bobby, André 3000’s union construction worker Jeremiah, retired US Marine Angel, and the runt of the litter,
Jack. As the gang comes together to overcome their differences in the name of their late mother, they begin to tug the strings of a criminal conspiracy much larger than they could have imagined, leading to a climactic final act.

REVIEW SCORE
I won’t spoil too much of the plot here, though suffice is to say, Four Brothers is a fun summer blockbuster with a ton of star power and a lot of exciting action sequences. The film obviously isn’t much of a thinker, as director John Singleton was quick to point out in interviews and press junkets, but it’s well worth the under 2-hour run-time, especially for fans of Outkast. If you’re interested in checking out Four Brothers today, be sure to stream the film on Paramount+.
