Another day, another instance of an active shooter situation. Famed comedian Craig Robinson, best known for his time as Darryl in The Office, was involved in a scary situation last night as he was set to perform at a comedy club. Robinson was meant to perform at The Comedy Zone in Charlotte, North Carolina, when he was told backstage to immediately evacuate the building around 9 PM. A gunman had apparently shown up at the club and demanded everyone leave. Everyone was instructed to go next door for safety. Robinson took to Instagram to update his fans about the horrifying moment. You can see the video below:
Craig Robinson begins to speak about the situation around the: 50-second mark of the video. He is in the crowd of what appears to be a concert and tells fans that he was moved there for safety reasons. Further reports indicated that the active shooter had fired their gun outside of the comedy club, but no one had been hurt. Things could have gone much worse for the comic and everyone who had intended to see the man perform. Robinson also took to his Instagram page to essentially update fans via a text-based post thanking the staff of The Comedy Zone for stepping in and saving the day. You can read that post below:
Craig Robinson has spent plenty of time behind the camera. He was made famous in The Office, as previously mentioned. He’s also been in hit films like This Is the End, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Hot Tub Time Machine, and Pineapple Express. He also lent his voice to Shark, in the recently released animated feature The Bad Guys. On top of appearing in plenty of television shows and films, he is a constant stand-up comic and musician. He often performs with his band, The Nasty Delicious. Thankfully, the man is alright after experiencing such a traumatic situation. The unfortunate aspect of most active shooter situations in the country is that many people are killed. However, that was not the case for everyone at The Comedy Zone in Charlotte.
So far, Craig Robinson has only updated fans via his social media channels about what had taken place at The Comedy Zone. He is set to perform at the Just For Laughs comedy festival happening in Cancun, Mexico this November. The comic is also slated to perform at the Hollywood Improv on July 19th in Hollywood, California. Hopefully, he is going to make his appearance as scheduled. We would understand anyone who wants to stay home after experiencing a situation like that.
Thankfully, authorities were able to get to The Comedy Zone quickly enough to stop the apparent gunman from harming anyone. These days, it seems like people with guns in public are commonplace, and that is a scary thought to have to even try and contemplate. Craig Robinson is lucky to not have been harmed along with whoever was in the surrounding area of the club.
