8 Best Community End Credit Tags
Here's our pick of the top Community end credit tags that will never get old.
Community is a sitcom that aired for six seasons beginning in 2009 on NBC and ending in 2015 on Yahoo! Screen. The series starred Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Ken Jeong, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Chevy Chase. While most sitcoms are known for their hilarious intros, Community went the opposite route and became well known for their end credit tags.
An end credit tag is a brief scene at the end of each episode that can add to what was just seen or bring up something totally random and new. Sometimes, they end up being the funniest scene of the episode. We have narrowed down eight of the funniest end credit tags.
8. Greendale performers sing Carol of the Bells
This fantastic end credit tag came during the Christmas season. It features Dean, Chang, Leonard, Star-Burns, and Magnitude and has them all as ornaments on a Christmas tree. To the tune of Carol of the Bells, Dean stars off. Then, in unison, the rest join in until Chang gets knocked off the Christmas tree.
7. Pierce breaks the school’s ice cream machine
Although Chevy Chase’s time on Community came to an unfortunate end, the end credit tag on episode 11 in the third season was classic Chevy. Known for his slapstick, Pierce has issues with the ice cream machine. As more yogurt flows out, Pierce does what he can to slow it down. Unfortunately, the mess continues to grow until Pierce sticks one final cone under the free-flowing spout, then nonchalantly walks away.
6. Dean’s Lullaby
Season 3 of Community had a number of fun end credit tags, and episode 17 was another prime example. In this one, Troy (Donald Glover) and Abed (Danny Pudi) are in a bunk bed and you can immediately see they are not in their apartment. Instead, the two are at the college, and while Shirley is wondering why they are not at home, the dean arrives with a glass of warm milk. As they drink, the dean begins to sing a very unsettling lullaby.
5. Pretend like you were sleeping
Another classic Community end credit tag finds Abed and Troy mocking students who they believe can’t hear them behind the glass walls in the college study room. They have something funny and offensive to say about everyone entering. It’s only when Jeff enters and they make a crack about him being 40 that Jeff (Joel McHale) tells them, through the glass wall, that he is not 40 that they realize everyone in the room could hear them. Their masterful response is to pretend they are sleeping.
4. Oh Christmas Troy
In their very first Christmas end credit tag, we see Jeff and Abed decorating Troy, who is a Christmas tree. As they are doing this, the two break out into song by singing their version of “Oh Christmas Tree.” Instead of singing the word “tree,” they substitute it with “Troy.” At the end of the tune, Troy joins in the singing, showcasing some of Donald Glover’s musical range.
3. Betty White rap
It was always a treat when the late Betty White appeared on any sitcom and her appearance on the first episode of season 2 of Community was no different. The end credit tag here was classic as well. In it, Abed and Troy are creating a jingle to help them study while their teacher (White) tries to insinuate the Toto song “Africa” into the mix.
2. Troy’s dinner with LeVar Burton
This Community end credit tag comes from season 2 and features one of Star Trek: The Next Generation’s favorite actors, LeVar Burton. This fun one sees Troy having dinner with Burton in the study room. Burton is Troy’s favorite actor, but after Pierce gifts Troy with a surprise afternoon with his celeb idol, Troy can’t handle it, and he ends up running out of the dinner screaming.
1. Duncan calls in an airstrike
Community’s Professor Duncan (John Oliver) has just run out of staples. So, he jumps on the phone to order more but notices a strange menu option. With curiosity eating at him, he decides to follow the prompts to see where it takes him. After punching in some random numbers, he gains access, and a voice asks him if he truly wants to initiate this. The professor says yes but tries to take it back. Unable to do so, Duncan then hears fighter jets blasting overhead. Suddenly, he finds staples, and all is well.
