Crime Comedy Anime Series Desperately Needs Season 2
There’s nothing more frustrating than getting started on a series, only to realize it’s very short or unfinished. That’s how it felt to watch Buddy Daddies, a series about two assassins who end up taking in a young girl they meet during a mission. Despite the show’s popularity and great plot, it seems the show is doomed to end after only 12 episodes.
Two Assassins And A Baby
To be fair, Buddy Daddies did have a perfectly satisfying and solid ending. The story starts with Kazuki Kurusu (Toshiyuki Toyonaga) and Rei Suwa (Kouki Uchiyama) as they head out on a mission to kill a mafia boss. While on a mission, the two stumble into a little girl named Miri (Hina Kino), looking for her father, who happens to be the same man the two assassins were sent to kill.
Unsure what to do with the child, they end up taking her in. What was meant to be a few days ends up looking far more long-term after they realize her mother isn’t the greatest parental figure either.
Mixes Comedy With Killing
Once they realize parenting is a long-term commitment for them, the two look at how to get out of their dangerous jobs. The story is full of hilarious and serious moments up until the very end. In the end, fans had the chance to see a time-skip to when Miri is in middle school and the two assassins now work to be full-time fathers.
A Lot Of Potential Story Left
Despite this, there’s still plenty of plot that could be covered in a second season of Buddy Daddies. For example, there will likely be a period in Miri’s life where she wonders who her real parents are. Additionally, there’s a very good chance that the Suwa business will still keep searching for the hitmen, meaning that even if things settle down for a little while, there’s a chance that someone will end up learning who they are.
Fans Want To See The Buddies Handle A Teenger
There’s also potential for plenty of funny moments in Buddy Daddies Season 2. After all, teenagers cause all sorts of trouble, from first crushes to teenage angst. It would be amusing to see how Kazuki and Rei handle these parts of being a father.
While many original anime like Buddy Daddies don’t get a second season, there is a bit more hope with this series. Not only was it incredibly popular, with an average score of 8.12 and a popularity ranking of #878, it’s gained a lot of traction since it aired in early 2023.
No Discussion Of A Second Season
Unfortunately, at this moment, there is no chance of a continuation of Buddy Daddies. There’s been no talk of a second season from the studio, nor has it been green-lit for a second one. And, since it’s an original storyline, there’s no opportunity to see more of our favorite characters by reading a manga.
At Least We Got One Great Season
REVIEW SCORE
Though there is a very low chance of a second season, it doesn’t mean fans won’t get any new content at all. There’s a chance for some OVAs (Original Video Animations) or maybe even a movie or two, which is much more common with original material such as Buddy Daddies.
If you want to watch Buddy Daddies for yourself or give it a rewatch while you wait for more news about this delightful anime series, it’s available to stream on Crunchyroll.
