Colin Farrell Has An Intense New TV Show, See The First Trailer
Colin Farrell has a new series coming out and he's leaning even more villain than ever. Check out the intense trailer for the BBC show.
Colin Farrell can deliver all kinds of acting performances including dialing up the intensity when the moment calls for it. And from the looks of his upcoming series, the actor and the rest of the crew pulled out all of the stops when it comes to keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. The trailer for The North Water just dropped and it is a harsh and biting look at a group of men who are stranded at the end of the world.
This series has Colin Farrell in the lead and tells the story of a group of men who set out on a whaling expedition to the Arctic. While some are looking to escape their pasts, it isn’t long before they learn that this mission is dangerous for more reasons than just the environment. There is potential evil on this ship and Farrell especially might be someone much more sinister than originally expected. It looks every bit a nail-biter with the snowy tundra and bleak surroundings as a backdrop for what is a deadly trip. Check out the trailer for The North Water:
In this new series, based on the Ian McGuire novel of the same name, Colin Farrell plays Henry Drax a harpooner who is helping to lead this excursion into the harshest of settings. It won’t take long before you realize he’s not someone you want to be stuck in the Arctic with, a psychopath through and through. Joining him Jack O’Connell as Patrick Sumner, a doctor who has joined the group as a way to distance himself from his past. There’s also Stephen Graham playing Captain Brownlee.
The North Water will air on BBC as a ten-episode series, broken into five-episode sections. It is helmed by Andrew Haigh who’s acting as showrunner and head writer. He previously created the award-winning series The 45. It will be the first time he’s worked with Colin Farrell.
From the trailer, this new series looks like it will be a slow burn into darkness, cold, and madness. The crew struggles not only with the elements around them but also with the prospect that they aren’t safe from each other. While Colin Farrell has taken a villain turn before, this one might be his most evil role yet.
In addition to The North Water, Colin Farrell is also going to have the role of Oswald Cobblepot, better known as The Penguin, when Matt Reeves‘ The Batman hits screens next year. He’s set to have an expanded role in that franchise with the plan to develop multiple films and the expansive and seedy world of Gotham. The film looks dark in its own right. Maybe this is a direction Farrell is just trending in general.
Other work coming up for Colin Farrell includes The Homeless World Cup and Banshees of Inisherin, both of which are in pre-production. The North Water will air on BBC next week on July 15th.
