The new trailer shows the two dojos linking up with one another in order to secure their victory in the new All Valley Under 18 Karate Tourament, but John Kreese of Cobra Kai is none too happy about the word that Lawrence and LaRusso have joined forces. Fans of the Karate Kid series will recognize a familiar face in the trailer, as Thomas Ian Griffith has returned. Griffith plays the role of the villain, Terry Silver, in Karate Kid III. It seems that Kreese and the Cobra Kai have found their own way to spice things up in the upcoming competition and Cobra Kai Season 4.
Things look to be tense when Daniel LaRusso and Terry Silver finally meet one another face-to-face. Which dojo will come out on top? Will the Eagle Fang truly back up Miyagi-Do? Who will be the top fighter for Miyagi-Do? The trailer seems to indicate it will be fan-favorite Tory Nichols. Fans of the series won’t have to wait too much longer to see these questions get answered, as Cobra Kai Season 4 is set to drop on December 31st. Binging the new season as we head into 2022 wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world.
There is plenty of time for new and old fans to catch up on the series, before Cobra Kai Season 4 releases. The original Karate Kid films are also canon, so it would be smart to view those first, though it’s not necessary. While this upcoming season is going to include a lot more references to the Karate Kid canon, the show has always been written so that people who haven’t seen the films will understand the story. Still, there are bonuses for fans of the movies, especially when it comes to the deep rivalries to be explored in season 4 of the series. The comedy-drama series has been developed as a direct continuation of Daniel LaRusso’s journey, which began with his training by the famous, Mr. Miyagi, which is the man that inspired the dojo in which Daniel runs now. The first Karate Kid film was released in 1984, which helped to catapult Ralph Macchio’s career.
Since its initial run on Youtube Red, Cobra Kai has garnered a huge following, that has allowed the series to move its way over to Netflix, and with that, bring forth bigger production value and producers that include Will Smith, James Lassiter, and Caleeb Pinkett for Westbrook Entertainment, Sony Pictures Television’s Susan Ekins, and Macchio and Zabka. That is a lot of backing power for a series that was born from a film released in the 1980s. Cobra Kai Season 4 looks to continue the ever-growing universe that the initial films created, especially by bringing in Terry Silver.
