Christopher Nolan And Matt Damon Are Making Another Epic Movie Together
When Christopher Nolan calls you to make a movie, you usually pick up the phone and say yes. Such is the case, once again, with Matt Damon, who will team with Nolan on another movie, this one targeting a 2026 release date. Deadline has it that while Matt Damon hasn’t officially confirmed for the Christopher Nolan movie, the two are in the final stages of talks that would make it happen. It’s an exciting prospect for two of the very best in the industry right now.
Christopher Nolan And Matt Damon
There are precious few details about this Christopher Nolan and Matt Damon movie at this point, though we know from Nolan’s track record that he’s been all about going big or not going at all.
It appears the initial plans are to begin filming in 2025, though again, Nolan and company have long kept their flicks on the ultra-down low regarding specifics.
Matt Damon In Interstellar
This won’t be the first time Matt Damon and Christopher Nolan have worked together. Damon appeared, albeit briefly, in Interstellar. In that Matthew McConaughey-led epic space film, Damon played Dr. Mann, a NASA astronaut who was tasked with the original mission of finding habitable planets.
Mann quickly does a heal turn, though with Damon’s character falsifying data so that the crew can come and save him.
Matt Damon In Oppenheimer
Christopher Nolan and Matt Damon worked together again in Oppenheimer, in which the latter played Lieutenant General Leslie Groves, the director of the Manhattan Project. His character worked closely with Cillian Murphy’s J. Robert Oppenheimer throughout.
Matt Damon has told the story about his plans to take a longer and extended break from acting, something he promised his wife in counseling. He added one caveat to that promise, saying he would only consider working again if Christopher Nolan called.
Well, it turns out he did for Oppenheimer and has again now.
Christopher Nolan’s Movies
Christopher Nolan movies are as big as they get in Hollywood. His last five have had massive budgets, but turned in massive results at the box office for the studio.
Oppenheimer cost about $100 million but brought in more than $950 million along with a ton of Academy Awards love as well. Tenet cost $200 million while only bringing back $365 million, though the caveat there was it was a victim of timing around theater closings and the pandemic.
Dunkirk went for over $100 million, but rounded out around $500 million at the box office. And of course there was the aforementioned Interstellar which crushed as well, bringing in more than $700 million. Oh, and don’t even get us started on the Dark Knight trilogy.
Other Celebrities Coming?
With Matt Damon on board for Christopher Nolan’s next movie, we now just have to wait and see what other big name celebrities jump into the mix. There are sure to be many with these films bringing as much industry cache as there is in Hollywood.
