Chris Pratt Is Lining Up To Play A New Superhero?
Could Chris Pratt be lining up to play another superhero, signalling his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be soon ending?

When he first began his career, Chris Pratt seemed like anything but a budding action star. He was known for hijinks, some physical pratfalls, and an overall goofiness that played perfectly in a sitcom setting. But now it’s all different and he’s firmly entrenched in one of the biggest superhero franchises around. Apparently, he doesn’t want to stop there. According to insider Daniel Richtman, Pratt is eyeing another superhero role, but this one is with a different studio. It seems that Pratt wants to join the DC Extended Universe.
Richtman doesn’t go into detail about what role Chris Pratt is eyeing for the DCU so this is likely just in the exploratory stage for possibly both parties. It does make sense though that Pratt would be beginning to explore his options on the big screen and within other franchises going forward. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is going through a massive upheaval and change of late, developing all kinds of new characters and projects (movies and series alike) with this phase and the next representing a time of sweeping transition.
There’s a good chance Chris Pratt sees the writing on the role with his character of Peter Quill / Star-Lord. There is another Guardians of the Galaxy movie planned with James Gunn at the helm. That’s likely to be another massive flick for the group, having maybe expanded their roster to also include Thor (they’ll also be featured in Thor: Love and Thunder). So while that movie has no doubt about it, where it goes from there is anyone guess. One sign that the times might be a changin’ is that Dave Bautista who plays Drax the Destroyer has already said that the next film will be his last. Could that be the first domino to fall for the group? If Pratt is out there shopping for other gigs, then maybe.
Richtman’s rumor doesn’t say whether there was a character Chris Pratt might be angling for in the DC Extended Universe, but others have speculated on that kind of casting already. CinemaBlend threw out some names in the past that included a Jonah Hex reboot, Booster Gold, Christopher Chance, or even the thought that he could join the Green Lantern Corps. That final one is unlikely at this point considering they are in active development on a new series around that group of characters and Pratt hasn’t been mentioned.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t the only major franchise Chris Pratt is part of these days. He’s also set to reprise his role of Owen Grady in Jurassic World: Dominion in the next couple of years. And his delayed science fiction film The Tomorrow War is coming out on Amazon Prime in July. That has him as a futuristic soldier. So action chops are now firmly in his wheelhouse and we know he can go the superhero route even if his current role is a bit unconventional. It wouldn’t be crazy to see him switch teams at some point by joining DC.
