Chris Pratt knows a thing or two about starring in major franchises and he’s gotten the next installment in a big one coming sooner than later. That’s going to be when Jurassic World: Dominion hits the big screen this summer. In this franchise, the world has definitely changed, mostly for the worse, and Pratt’s Owen Grady is going to have to deal with the dinosaur problem on a more global level. But he’ll still have to get face to face with these no-longer-extinct reptiles.
On his Instagram feed, Chris Pratt posted a new picture from Jurassic World: Dominion, this one of him standing firm and staring down what is presumably a dinosaur threat. With him is DeWanda Wise who has a currently undisclosed role in the film. From the looks of things, they are very much on the same side in this fight with the two bringing knives to a dinosaur fight. It’s hard to imagine they stand any chance, but stranger things have happened. Check out what Chris Pratt posted for the upcoming movie.
Jurassic World: Dominion is set to pick up some time after the events of Fallen Kingdom and will be the third movie in this trilogy of films. We know that when the last movie ended, dinosaurs had effectively been set free into the world, no longer contained in amusement parks or the theme properties of the ultra-rich. Now they’ve become part of the overall ecosystem and that is set to cause some monstrous problems for everyone involved. Though the issue is now global, it looks like Pratt’s Grady is still needed for his expertise in handling the dinosaurs, something we saw in the first two movies.
Joining Chris Pratt and DeWanda Wise in Jurassic World: Dominion will be some familiar faces from the franchise. Bryce Dallas Howard will reprise her Claire Dearing role from the last two movies. And some Jurassic Park vets are back in the mix as well. Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm, Laura Dern as Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Sam Neill as Dr. Alan Grant are all back after starring in the original Jurassic Park all the way back in 1990. In this world, dinosaurs have now been a problem for more than 30 years.
The reboot of this franchise with the Jurassic World name and Chris Pratt in the lead has been a resounding success for the studio. The first two movies (four and five overall) combined to score almost $3 billion dollars in box office sales. That’s about as good as it gets these days. The critics weren’t completely in love with it, scoring 71% and 47% on Rotten Tomatoes respectively, but for a popcorn flick, the critical love isn’t as important here. This one has the receipts to back up interest in the franchise.
We will get to see Chris Pratt and company in Jurassic World: Dominion when it hits the big screen this summer on June 10th. From the looks of things, they will have a big fight on their hands.
