The Guardians of the Galaxy just celebrated its 8th anniversary, and Chris Pratt celebrated by posting a hilarious tribute to the milestone moment on his Instagram page. The video that was created to celebrate the team being together is chock full of some of the best moments from the first film. One of those moments happens to be when Peter Quill is arrested by the Nova Corps and then flips off the camera. Also, Gamora’s fantastic line, “I’m going to die surrounded by the biggest idiots in the galaxy.” You can see the hilarious and touching tribute below:

Quite honestly, Guardians of the Galaxy might have been the first film that helped usher in a new era for the MCU. James Gunn was able to perfectly put together an emotional story that gave fans of Marvel some of the funniest moments in the franchise’s history. We would go so far as to say the first Guardians of the Galaxy film helped shape the MCU into a franchise that wasn’t scared to add humor into their films. The genius of Chris Pratt as Star-Lord will never be forgotten. Plus, the rest of the amazing cast helped propel the movie into one of the best MCU films ever made.

The Guardians of the Galaxy reprised their roles in Thor: Love and Thunder, but rocketed off into the unknown at the beginning of the film. Well, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) got them out of there before Thor went through his existential crisis. Now, we have to all patiently wait to see them in the Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special, which is set to debut on Disney+ in December of this year. James Gunn has promised the film will hold special ties to the entirety of the MCU, and it will usher in Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3, which will debut on May 5, 2023. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is said to end Phase 4 of MCU continuity, meaning that the Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special might be a bridging point between Phase 4 ending and Phase 5 beginning.

The first Guardians of the Galaxy became a special movie for everyone involved. Not only did the actors become one of the most beloved teams in the MCU, but fans got to experience some deep love from everyone’s favorite ragtag team. The ending where Groot saves everyone’s life and says, “We ARE Groot” will forever hold a special place in everyone’s hearts. We are glad that Chris Pratt has realized how special the journey has been till now.

The next time we see the Guardians will be in the Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special, due out in December. Then we will have to wait until May of 2023 to see them again. We are not sure what is going to happen in between that, but we could be seeing the group appear in other films. Our bet is on Ant-Man & Wasp: Quantumania. For now, we can watch the above video and remember the hilarious scenes from the original movie, including Yondu doing his best Mary Poppins impression in the sequel.
