Chris Pratt Leaving Guardians For Marvel’s Biggest Competitor?
After being let go from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, James Gunn has taken over the DC Universe, and several of his Marvel colleagues have joined him. Now, after a successful third film in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, Chris Pratt might be joining the acclaimed director as well. Earlier today, X user @HomeofDCU shared that James Gunn may have plans for the Star-Lord actor in his new superhero universe.
The post on X shared a photo of Chris Pratt and James Gunn, a photo collage of all the DC Universe superheroes, and a quote from James Gunn, “There are reasons I wouldn’t want [Pratt] to play himself in the DCU!”
@HomeofDCU asked fellow X users who they would want Chris Pratt to play in James Gunn’s newly rebooted DCU, and the responses have been pouring in.
Fans have been clamoring for Chris Pratt to play Booster Gold in the DC Universe
The most obvious and prominent answer so far has been Booster Gold, the handsome and knowledgeable show-off who first appeared in DC comic books in 1986. Chris Pratt is well-known for being charismatic and charming, and his Star-Lord character was cocky and arrogant with a great sense of humor, so it wouldn’t be much of a stretch for him to play Booster Gold.
James Gunn and Peter Safran announced that the superhero would be getting his own DC TV series, so it’s possible that Chris Pratt could star in it.
If DC fans are right that Jason Sudeikis will be playing Ted Kord in the Blue Beetle franchise, then we could see him and Chris Pratt working together, which would be very entertaining.
DC Fans Have Many Ideas For Chris Pratt
Some X users think that the Guardians of the Galaxy actor could pull off Hal Jordan, AKA Green Lantern. Ryan Reynolds tried to bring this superhero to life back in 2011 but failed miserably. Perhaps with James Gunn leading the way, and with better CGI, Chris Pratt could give this superhero the movie he deserves.
Chris Pratt would likely be a good fit for Green Lantern as well in the DCU
Other X users think that Chris Pratt could play Captain Boomerang, a dangerous member of the Suicide Squad. The character has been portrayed by Jai Courtney in both Suicide Squad movies, but casting changes are very common, especially when rebooting a whole superhero universe.
A few other potential DC characters include Plastic Man, Captain Comet, Shazam, and Lex Luthor, but the list can go on and on with the many superheroes and villains in DC’s comic books.
If Chris Pratt does make the jump to DCU, then he will likely join several of his fellow Guardians co-stars.
Maria Bakalova, who voiced Cosmo the dog in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be voicing Princess Ilana Rostovic in the TV series Creature Commandos. Nathan Fillion, who played a variety of roles in each Guardians movie will be playing Guy Gardner in Superman: Legacy. Pom Klementieff, who played Mantis, has teased her involvement with James Gunn’s DCU, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
If Chris Pratt does make an appearance in James Gunn’s new DCU, then he will join several other actors who have been in both the MCU and the DCU, including Ryan Reynolds, Ben Affleck, and Chris Evans.
