See Chris Pratt’s New Star Lord Costume
Chris Pratt has a new look in this behind the scenes photo from Thor: Love and the Thunder.

Chris Hemsworth posted a photo to celebrate the birthday of Chris Evans. The photo he posted is gaining a lot of attention online. For one thing, he posted a photo with actor Chris Pratt to wish Chris Evans a happy birthday, which is a lovely little way to troll one of the other Chrises in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. More notable for many MCU fans is everything happening in the photo in quesiton. While Hemsworth and Pratt are just sitting there smiling, they appear to be doing so on set in Australia for Thor: Love and Thunder, in costume. And their costumes are fantastically different from what we’ve seen in the past.
Taika Waititi, the director of Thor: Ragnarok, is in charge of Thor: Love and Thunder. He’s not afraid to make modifications to the way these classic Marvel characters look. While he can only go so far with established characters that will be needed in other Marvel projects, he definitely does what he can to change things up. Take a closer look at the Instagram photo below with Chris Pratt’s new look.
While the jacket is a similar color to what we’ve seen Chris Pratt wear in previous Guardians of the Galaxy appearances, take a look at the flashy new pieces added. We’ve actually seen slight variations on the maroon jacket in the past, mostly in the same area we’re seeing here. In the Marvel comics, Star-Lord is a fairly different character. His personality is more rigid. He has a more military-based looking costume.
For the movies, they played up Peter Quill’s background as a Terran and as a laid-back kind of guy with this maroon jacket and cool look. Some of the small touches here, particularly the metal on the left side of his chest, adds a more science-fiction base to the jacket, like he has a Terran background but is now more embracing his identity as a traveler through space. It may be that these little elements are more important for Chris Pratt’s character as he joins Thor. These are the kinds of touches that better differentiate the two and establish who Peter Quill is.
Also of note, Chris Pratt’s hair is looking a bit longer and more tousled here. It may just be a bit wilder in the photo behind the scenes, but if Chris Hemsworth’s hair is anything to go by, Star-Lord may have a more beachy look for his hair in Thor: Love and Thunder.
Of course, no one can help but wonder what in the world we’re going to see from Chris Hemsworth’s character in this upcoming movie. While we’ve seen quite a few behind-the-scenes photos from the set, and know a bit about Natalie Portman’s role in the movie, we know very little about what Thor will be doing or why he looks the way he looks. Despite how much proof we’ve seen that Chris Pratt is in the movie, we also know very little about what will be happening with the plot surrounding his appearance. While we’ll certainly keep learning bits and pieces up to the release date, we won’t be seeing the movie in action until it hits theaters on February 11, 2022.
